Two Down, 10 to Go

by Jo | March 20th, 2006

I can’t believe it’s only been two months since the SGM left for Afghanistan. It feels like two years already. I’m trying to decide which deployment was/is worse: Bosnia or this one.

Bosnia was for 7 months. No regular communication, via e-mail or phone. Not much about it in the news.

Aghanistan is for 12 months. Regular communication, via e-mail and phone. Too much about it in the news (no, not the TV media, I get it off local newspapers).

Maybe that is why this one seems to be dragging along more than the Bosnia deployment.

I do have plenty to do to keep busy, outside of work — but I haven’t gotten the bug yet to do any of it except hang curtains.

I need to work on my AAI designation for insurance; sign up to a gym, start tanning, plant flowers in the mailbox planter, and lots of other stuff. But for right now, I only have the will to update my blog, watch old TV shows on DVD, play computer games and veg.

Maybe Spring and daylight savings will be the trigger for motivation.

  1. Well, I know this isn’t the same but I just sent the kids to Ohio for spring break and I feel absolutely lost without them. And it’s funny, when they are here I seem to have a million things to do and can’t get them all done but now that they are not here this week I just walk around the house aimlessly with nothing to do.

Ah! There’s a gal after me own heart

    Go, local newspapers, go!

  3. I still haven’t lost the last 5 pounds that I intended to lose over the last deployment. Blog therapy, driving by the gym, and watching movies seems like plenty!
