Yep … I just paid that two days ago. Never in my life would I think to pay that much for stuff that goes on my eyelashes to make what God skimped me on look larger. I mean come on now — they are “just” eyelashes.
Well, they are “just” eyelashes until you’ve worn some of the best in the market on them.
I wear Bare Escentuals makeup, which I purchase from QVC. There is a store in Atlanta, but I’m not driving 2 hours for something that can be delivered, but I move away from the topic here.
I buy a lot of “kits” of Bare Escentuals from QVC, mainly because they may have stuff in them I haven’t tried. One of these kits had mascara in it. “Big Tease” it’s called. Unfortunately, QVC doesn’t have a picture of the item, but here is the link to the description. Anyway, I used this mascara for 3 months and then it was time to replace it. After looking at the price on QVC, I decided to get the stuff I’d use before. I won’t say here what it was, but it’s a common mascara we can all get, and most have probably worn.
B. I. G. Mistake
By the end of the first day it felt like I had rocks in my eyes. Thinking it was nothing more than being tired and doing too much computer work, I took my makeup off as soon as I hit the door after work. It took a bit of scrubbing, but it finally came off.
At the end of day 3, I knew we had a problem. This stuff felt like someone had hung little rocks on my eyelashes. All I wanted to do was get this junk OFF my eyes and as fast as possible.
I dug into my makeup box because I hadn’t thrown the Big Tease stuff in the trash yet. Sure enough, using it on day 4 I had no problems. No rocks on my eyelashes and my eyes weren’t tired.
So, I have spent $15 on mascara. Vain as my sister would say? Probably. But after my little 3 day experiment above, the cost is worth it.

When I can afford it I buy Aveda products and we all that product isn’t exactly cheap but it’s so worth it. Kinda goes back to that old saying, “You get what you pay for.”
Example - a 33.8 oz bottle of Healthy Scalp conditioner is $42.00 But man oh man, so worth it. I have tried TONS of conditioner and The Healthy Scalp Aveda conditioner is so worth the 42 buckeroos; again, when I can afford it. And the 33.8 oz bottle does last a LONG time. Love their skin care products and make up as well.
OK, I’m done. ;-)
I figured only gals would understand this post. I sometimes cringe at the price, but then in the end it’s worth it. And besides, $15 for mascara is $5 a month if you think about it. I’m the same way about Nick Chavas’ hair products. My hair never feels better than when I use his stuff.
