Yesterday:

Key Democrat calls for immediate pullout
Rep. Murtha, a decorated veteran, says troops can’t do anything more

Our troops have become the primary target of the insurgency,” Murtha said in a Capitol news conference that left him in tears. Islamic insurgents “are united against U.S. forces, and we have become a catalyst for violence,” he said. “. . . It’s time to bring them home.”

In the news today:

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — As debate rages in Washington over the U.S. military presence in Iraq, suicide bombings killed scores of people Friday in Baghdad and in the eastern city of Khanaqin, near the Iranian border.

The Khanaqin carnage occurred when two suicide bombers detonated near or inside two Shia mosques early Friday afternoon, Iraqi police said.

According to the U.S. military, 50 people died in the attacks. There is also a search on for a possible third suicide bomber.

Khanaqin is a Shia-Kurdish town near the Iranian border and is approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) northeast of Baquba.

The attacks took place around 12:30 p.m., when the mosques would have been full with worshipers for Friday afternoon prayers.

The American military is sending troops into the area to investigate
.

Two mosques were bombed by suicide bombers and two truck bombs were exploded, one outside the hotel where mostly reporters stay.

Primary target: Civilians

I shut up now.

I wish someone would take a spray can of New John Deere Yellow and paint a 4 inch wide stripe down the back of each and every Democrat in DC. Even then, I don’t think that they’d get it.

One thing people ask me is, would you go back to Baghdad? I always tell them yes even though its not my first choice. I care not a bit about WMDs or anything else the left seems to scream about. What I do care about is the lives of children. Iraq could have had the very best education system in the world, but Saddam was more interested in ruthless torture.
Back out of Iraq? No way. Not until every child has a chance to be safe and free from harm. In fact, I say the United States should expand its role and ANY nation that would use its children and torture them should get a visit from us.

    Jo,

I heard the Congressman’s speech/comments and thought the same thing: The troops are the main target? I don’t think so! Iraqis are the main target. Suicide bombers outside Iraqi Police recruiter stations etc and mosques are the main targets. He’s blowing hot air.
