….we should not start allowing “civil unions”:
First Trio “Married” in The Netherlands
First, those who are not married get to be treated like they are married. Then gays get to be treated like they are married. Then a man gets to have a “civil union” with two women. Where does it end?????
The answer is simple. It DOESN’T END, if we allow it to start. There has to be a line. I’m sorry….I really am, but there just has to be a line drawn. Might as well be the one that’s already there.
I will state that I support a company if it wants to insure “partners”. I also believe that a person in a sound state of mind who writes a will or other legal document giving their “partner” rights should not have those wishes shot down by courts simply because their families don’t agree with their decisions. The law should support legally sound documents.
That said, I do not, and cannot, support “civil unions”, regardless of who is trying to be united. I do not support them for a simple reason — because once the gates are opened, they can never be closed, only opened further.
Jo adds this: At least Governor Schwarzenegger gets it here, from California Conservative.

pretty soon, people will be marrying cats and dogs. I’m convinced of it.
I’m with you on the “line” thing. Marriage has a purpose.. procreation between a man and a woman so as to create a family. There are other legal rights which man has created for those types of unions (marriages). However, if gay people choose to be loyal to one person, I feel they should be able to enjoy those same legal rights. I just have a hard time calling it “marriage”, because I’m traditional and I do believe that “religious right” (as I consider it to be) is intended between a man and a woman. Many people don’t consider this a religious right. Many people (men and woman who are married to each other) treat it like it is a minor legal technicality, but that’s not me. This is why the divorce rate is so high.
Netherland is screwed up in my opinion. Sorry.
