Gates on Meet the Press yesterday:

“I don’t think it’s [Lybia] a vital interest of the United States, but we clearly have an interest there,” Mr. Gates said in an appearance on the NBC News program, “Meet the Press” as part of a round of appearances on Sunday morning talk shows. (Source)

Evidently that wasn’t the right answer, as SOS Clinton had to jump in and correct him.

It was a stunning power play.  On Meet The Press this morning, after Defense Secretary Bob Gates conceded that Libya is not a “vital interest” of the United States–but before he could complete his comments–Hillary cut him off.  She launched into a minute-and-forty-second monologue seeking to justify US military involvement in Libya.

Gates had to sit and take it . . . and never got to say another word. (Source)

Now Obama is going on national television to explain his policy in regard to Lybia.

Really folks – did you think we’d get anything better when we elected a community organizer as President?  This man does not know how to lead.  He does everything by commitee and shows up to the parade too late.

Clearly, SOS Hillary Clinton has the bigger set in this situation.

The Army moved to a more “PC” way of dealing with people during the Clinton Administration.  Stress cards in Basic Training, Touchy Feely classes, etc.

Now that era is coming back to haunt us.

There are people in the military who don’t give a damn about political correctness and call a spade a spade; but evidently, none of these people with backbone were around Major Nidal Malik Hasan.    The murders on that day are also the responsibility of Hasan’s chain of command.  Hind-sight is 20/20, but anyone with two brain cells can understand that PC got in the way of stopping this man.  Hasan should have been kicked to the curb years ago and put on the terrorist watch list.  Instead – he was allowed to roam free on a military installation, in uniform, to plot and plan a massacre.

When will the next attack on American soil happen because of Political Correctness?  Only the radical muslim knows.

Its high time this country wake up and realize there are just some people who need to be dealt with harshly; religion, color of skin be damned.

I have no remorse or sadness for this man’s passing.  Yes, I feel for his family’s loss, as I’m sure they loved him.

The good guys are the United States, lead by the best of the best, US Navy Seals.  People, well some people, are amazed at the shooting ability of the Seals, and rightly so if you aren’t around the military every day or handle a gun.   Yet, circumstances of the shots made were not ideal, but practiced.  Its called “muscle memory”.  These guys train for every type scenario that can be concocted.  They shoot from flying helicopters, mountains, off ships, etc.  Practice makes perfect.  One Shot – One Kill is the sniper’s creed, no matter the branch of service.

The United States won a small victory here.  Some how advisers got through to Barack Obama and convinced him to free the hands of the people “on the ground” and the results were to the good.  I will give him his due for that.  But I will not call it his first military victory as some are (ie: Main Stream “thrill up my leg” Media) 

The pirate remaining will be brought back to the United States, tried in court and then tucked away in a nice prison somewhere to be fed and clothed by the US Tax Payer.

But alas, as I prepare this post, we learn the pirates have taken another ship …

White House caves in, won’t force veterans to use private insurance

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration on Wednesday abandoned a controversial plan to make veterans use private insurance to pay for costly treatments of combat-related injuries.

Stung by the angry reaction to the proposal, the administration made the decision after a meeting between officials from 11 veterans advocacy groups and top White House officials.

“Our voices were heard,” said Norbert Ryan, the president of the Military Officers Association of America. “They made the right decision on this.”

The plan would have reversed a longstanding policy of providing government health coverage for all service-related injuries. Few details emerged beyond its reported savings of $540 million, however.

Most veterans use private insurance only for health problems unrelated to their military service.

“This is a moral issue for us,” said Paul Rieckhoff, the executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.

What was most puzzling to experienced activists and others was that the White House floated the idea in the first place. Several said the administration came off as politically tone deaf to the importance of the issue.

You see Dear Leader Obama wants to generate $540 Million dollars and he’s looking at every avenue available to do just that.  He claims that to force soldiers to be treated by private insurance, they pay for, would help him find that money.

The bold sentence is what all of this boils down to: Money. Dear Leader has shoveled out so much money in his “Stimulus Bill” and now his budget that until he can start taxing the hell out of the regular populous, he’s going to go after those among us that need our help the most – wounded vets.

HotAir has it right: “Let’s see.  The same administration that wants to give tens of billions of dollars to GM, Citigroup, AIG, and a host of other banks and manufacturers wants men and women injured in service to their country to pay for the medical care that arises from these injuries?”

Write, call, fax, however you communicate with your representatives and senators and tell them NO to Dear Leader’s latest money grab.

The bastard doesn’t have the balls to walk one foot in any of these veterans shoes, but he has them to fail them in their time of need.

I wonder if this is how he plans on paying off the $900 million he gave to Hamas?

Karzai anger at US strike deaths

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has criticised a US military operation which killed at least 16 people in eastern Afghanistan.

Mr Karzai said most of those killed were civilians, adding that such deadly incidents strengthened Taleban rebels and weakened Afghanistan’s government.

Women and children were among those killed, Mr Karzai said.

The strike was the first controversy in Afghanistan involving US troops since US President Barack Obama took office.

In a statement, the president said two women and three children were among the dead in the attack, which the US said targeted a militant carrying a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG).

So much for change uh?

Oh, of course the left {who want us to be nice to their empty-suit president-elect obama} have said some really nasty things, again, about the incident.   The broken record of the looney left is still skipping.

So, think what you will about the man with the shoes, President Bush laughed it off and probably saw the incident the same way a lot of us on the right do.

Roadside bomb attacks and fatalities in Iraq are down by almost 90% over the last year, according to Pentagon records and interviews with military leaders.

In May, 11 U.S. troops were killed by blasts from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) compared with 92 in May 2007, records show. That’s an 88% decrease.

Military leaders cite several factors for the drop in attacks and deaths.

I did a search for the “Roadside bombs decline in Iraq”, and found one other story that referenced the USA Today story. 

Still – I’m thrilled either way.   This of course is probably getting all over the backside of the libs who want total failure in Iraq!!!

Republican John McCain on Monday sharply criticized Democratic rival Barack Obama for not having been to Iraq since 2006, and said they should visit the war zone together.

“Look at what happened in the last two years since Senator Obama visited and declared the war lost,” the GOP presidential nominee-in-waiting told The Associated Press in an interview, noting that the Illinois senator’s last trip to Iraq came before the military buildup that is credited with curbing violence.

“He really has no experience or knowledge or judgment about the issue of Iraq and he has wanted to surrender for a long time,” the Arizona senator added. “If there was any other issue before the American people, and you hadn’t had anything to do with it in a couple of years, I think the American people would judge that very harshly.”

“For him to talk about dates for withdrawal, which basically is surrender in Iraq after we’re succeeding so well is, I think, really inexcusable,” said McCain, who has been to Iraq eight times, most recently in March.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton declined to respond directly to McCain, saying only: “Senator Obama thinks Memorial Day is a day to honor our nation’s veterans, not a day for political posturing.”

Obama doesn’t give a rats ass about Memorial Day or any other day honoring the military.  We all know that the liberal democrats don’t want the military at all – they tolerate it only.   Ask anyone who served and lived through the Clinton years how well they were taken care of.   The Clintons are the reason we have a military social experiment having to be cleaned up.  But I get off track here.

Obama is a chicken-shit.  He won’t go to Iraq for anything.  Hell Nancy went, proving she’s got bigger ones than he does – and he wants to be president!

Maybe Obama is afraid that when he gets over there the Muslim’s will rise up and demand he follow the steps of the religion he was born to?
