Nasty Weather in AL & GA

Monday Morning and all is well in the Cafe. We had some nasty storms rock through here last night and do some major damage to Phenix City, AL & Columbus, GA. By all reports though, we have no injuries – just property damage and power outages.

From WTVM.com:

Bama Lanes in Phenix City may have been damaged by what some eyewitnesses reports indicate was a tornado. We are still awaiting confirmation of whether or not an actual tornado touched down.

Power is out for much of midtown Columbus. Georgia Power reports that 3200 customers in Columbus are without power. Alabama Power say 4000 students are without power in the southern 2/3 of the state. At it’s peak, 3000 Phenix City residents were without power— now that is down to 1800. In Seale, 260 residents are without power.

We are about five miles into AL from the state line. It got loud for a while (and I lost an hour of sleep until our warnings were over), but nothing like the last major storm two weeks ago and no damage. The septic tank is going to have to be pumped again, but that is what you have to deal with living in the country.

WTVM created a Google Map of the area showing where damage has been reported.

I’m sure its going to be a busy day around the office. But thank God there was no loss of life.

Obama doesn't like white, frozen people. #tcot

On January 28, 2009 residences of Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri were hit with massive snow and ice storms. It was estimated upwards of 800,000 people lost power and 25 people lost their lives. The next day crews, started fighting to free power lines from the ice, while people forced out of their homes by officials woke in hotels and shelters didn’t realize their new President would ignore them.

Main Stream (Slobbering) Media ignored it all.

Fox News didn’t.

Yes, on January 28, Dear Leader Obama did sign the requests for emergency assistance from Kentucky and Arkansas’ Governor.

Today is February 9. It has been over ten days since the major weather event and Dear Leader has had a date night with his wife and attended a retreat with his fellow dimwits – yet can’t be bothered to fly “over” Kentucky or Arkansas to survey the damage.

Ten days.

How many days after Katrina were the loony liberals screaming that Bush hated black people because he hadn’t personally waded into the flood waters and plucked people off the roofs or out of the stadium?

How many times did you hear how “the Bush administration failed the people of Katrina“? Hell you’re still hearing it!!!

President GW Bush flew over flood ravaged southern Louisiana two days after the waters hit. Obama has yet to even bother looking in the direction of Arkansas or Kentucky.

Maybe Barack Obama doesn’t like white people??

There are still people without power in Kentucky. Don’t believe me because Chris Matthews is more worried about thrills running up his leg? Do a search on the Internet. You’ll see.

Let us also remember that while on the campaign trail, Obama was seen filling sandbags in Quincey, Ill. when bad flooding was hitting that area. Of course, that was when he was vying for the office of POTUS. Now that he is POTUS, why bother with the little people?

Especially them white bitter clingers that probably didn’t vote for him anyway right?

Left powerless by ice storm, family finds web of complications - This story talks about how the families house’s wiring is not up to “code” with current power standards. “Utility companies can’t restore power until families like hers make costly upgrades to their homes’ electrical systems.”

February 2nd: Ky. asks Obama to speed federal aid for ice storm ”Kentucky’s governor will ask President Barack Obama on Monday to speed up federal aid dollars as costs spiral past $45 million for emergency work to restore power, hand out water and food and clear debris across the state hit hard by an icy winter storm last week.”

Michelle Malkin has been receiving email from people in Kentucky freezing and suffering while the POTUS plays. (Note: Google will tell you this link doesn’t exist. But I went to her site through Yahoo! search and found the link works)

Another massive failure by the emperor with no clothes. While the MSlobberingM sleeps on news stories, people are dying.

On November 4, 2008 when they did not vote for Obama, did they realize at all that he would retaliate by ignoring their plight?

Just where in the world is our Dear Leader?

(crickets)

Seems we might be up for a bit of cooling instead! Of course those that have packed on their winter weight for this event should have no problems.

SUNSPOT activity has not resumed up after hitting an 11-year low in March last year, raising fears that – far from warming – the globe is about to return to an Ice Age.

Astronaut and geophysicist Phil Chapman, the first Australian to become an astronaut with NASA, said pictures from the US Solar and Heliospheric Observatory showed no spots on the sun.

He said the world cooled quickly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7C.

"Gore Aid"

Build concert stages and they will come. <strike>“Live Earth” </strike>“Gore Aid” was going on this weekend if you hadn’t heard already. Supposedly, in the pattern of “Farm Aid“, the concerts were to bring attention to the damage we are doing to Mother Earth. A problem with <strike>“LE”</strike> ”GA” is none of the performers road horses or walked to these events. Therefore, they had to use some type of fuel powered vehicle. Hmmm … isn’t that part of the problem?

Daily Mail (ht: Wizbang):

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts – nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists’ and spectators’ travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.
“Live Earth is promoting green to save the planet – what planet are they on?“

Remember this children: If the Liberals do it, no matter the cause, it is just. But let a republican be at the forefront of it, the liberals will do everything they can to stop it. Al Gore and the ilk he has spawned are hypocrites — period. Wasn’t it in the 70s we had fear of global cooling? My head hurts.

* Here some fans of the Earth make a snake out of plastic cups.

* Hubby was pissed to no end that the Boneyard had ”Gore Aid” on this Saturday. I won’t tell you how blue the air got in the jeep. Thankfully we had KISS in the CD player.

* Mr. Teach @ Pirate’s Cove has some questions about <strike>“Live Earth” </strike>“Gore Aid” here.

I grew up in Southern Minnesota and spent some time in Kentucky after leaving home, but let me tell you something folks …

I – HATE – COLD – WEATHER!!!

I <strike>moved</strike> stayed in the south not only because this is where the <strike>SGM</strike> Army chose for us to live, but the weather is a hellva lot nicer than where I grew up with.

Then I woke up this morning.

This is NOT suppose to happen here … I have blinders on folks when it comes to the south. The South is suppose to be “warm” and “partly cloudly” all the time, even balmly would work.

I’m playing hooky today anyway, so I won’t have to put up with the fact they freeze everyone out in the office and our space heaters blow the fuses.

— grumble —
