Cam Newton holds Heisman

Last year Alabama Crimson Tide’s Mark Ingraham won the Heisman and this year, the trophy stayed in Alabama with Cam Newton from Auburn University taking it in a landslide!

NEW YORK — Cam Newton thanked his mother, then his father. And then he paused to compose himself.

Cecil Newton was back in Georgia, though his son put him squarely in the room where the Auburn quarterback accepted college football’s biggest award Saturday night — the Heisman Trophy.

“Thank you for all you did for me,” he told his parents, adding. “To my father, I love you so much.”

There was no doubt Newton would win the Heisman. Whether he gets to keep it is still uncertain.

Newton brushed off an investigation that determined his father violated NCAA rules as he did so many tacklers this season and captured the Heisman in a landslide vote.

We may never learn why she murdered her brother, but it appears her attempts at retribution for crimes committed against her met with terrorist threats in one incidence, and of course murder in the last.

See – Amy Bishop was denied tenure at the University of Alabama “last year”.   This year, during a staff meeting she pulled out a gun and coldly shot three people to death.

An Alabama professor accused of shooting six colleagues was vocal in her resentment over being denied tenure and the looming loss of her teaching post, though relatives and students said she had never suggested she might become violent.

Of course I laugh at the statement she never suggested she might become violent because events in her past are obviously being ignored by her family.  I mean – how do you ignore a dead brother ala Bishop’s own hands on a shot-gun and then her fleeing the house, going to a car dealership and trying to steal a car?  Not violent?  Has marijuana become legal in Alabama and I wasn’t told about it, because these people are on drugs.

Oh and then there is the attempted bombing incident.

Investigators also revealed that seven years later, Bishop was the prime suspect in a 1993 mail bombing attempt on a Harvard Medical School professor. “I just feel angry,” LaTasha Davis, step-daughter of shooting victim Maria Davis, told “Good Morning America” today. “How did she even get a job working at the school when she had that type of background?”

… and its very interesting that Congressman Delahunt from the great blue state of Massachusetts (yes he’s a democrat) was the DA at the time Bishop was arrested.

Stinks to high heaven of cover up and a personality disorder related to rejection issues.

Today, liberal psychologists implore parents and school administrators not to allow winners and losers in sports and grades are not to be doled out in red ink for fear of causing low self-esteem issues with the child.  The child never learns to lose and never learns rejection of being picked last for the dodge ball team.

When children, an adults, never learn how to deal with rejection – what happens?   Well I’m not going to say they go out and murder – but Amy Bishop has some clear issues with just what is being taught to our children in this day and age: you never lose or are rejected.

Amy Bishop needs professional help and probably needs to be locked up in an institution for the rest of her natural life.  But that won’t bring back three people or her brother.  This women should never have been teaching at a University, or anywhere, with her background of violence.   We can only hope that the University of Alabama tightens up their requirements for teachers within the school system after this debacle.

So just how is the post office doing? Outside of losing more mail than it delivers, it continues to bleed tax payer money like a sieve.

The U.S. Postal Service is losing money so quickly you’d think it somehow got mixed up in the subprime mortgage business. It’s on track this year for an operating loss of between $6 billion and $12 billion, debt surpassing $10 billion, and a $1 billion cash shortfall. For any business, those are some ugly numbers.

To the end, the Government, in a light bulb moment, is closing post offices and now a processing center in Columbus, Ga.

An AMP study was initiated to evaluate the transfer of outgoing mail processing operations from the Columbus, GA Customer Service Mail Processing Center (CSMPC) with those performed at the Macon, GA Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC).  The initial results of this study support the business case for consolidation.  This study, currently in review at United States Postal Service (USPS) Headquarters and its Area Office, is subject to change.  (File in .rtf format here)

That means mail from Columbus, GA and Fort Benning, GA will travel to Macon, GA (2 1/2 hours away), be processed and then returned to the area for delivery.   Now a letter mailed on Monday to a local address will arrive the next day to its destination.  After the center is closed, it will be traveling over the river and through the woods to another town – processed by people who don’t know Columbus like local employees, and then shipped back.

And we thought mail got lost now?  Wait until it has to be moved twice before delivery.

This is a precursor to what will happen to your health care once the Government takes over.

SEN. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., exacted a special price for his vote on the Senate health-care bill. Opening up the Medicaid program to 15 million more Americans over the next decade will cost the states billions of dollars — but not Ben Nelson’s state. For Nebraska, the cost, estimated at $100 million through 2016, will be paid by the federal government.

In English – the 49 other states in the country have to pony up the expense for Medicare/cade for not only their states, but now their share of what Nebraska would have paid.  Move to Nebraska and your taxes will not go to support Medicare/cade at all!  You will be living off taxes paid by say someone in Minnesota or Alabama!!

Well Alabama Governor Bob Riley, in conjunction with other governors, has asked his AG to look into the constitutionality of such prostituted payments.

MONTGOMERY- Governor Bob Riley today called on Attorney General Troy King to expand his investigation of the financial deals that led to the passage of the U.S. Senate’s health care reform bill and determine whether the Obama Administration has arranged any other dollars-for-votes schemes for certain states.

In a letter to Attorney General King, Governor Riley offered the assistance of Alabama’s Medicaid experts in the investigation of the Senate health care shenanigans, but asked that King go further to determine whether other deals have been arranged to alleviate federal funding mandates for certain states in order to win votes. It was recently revealed that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid worked out special deals that allow the federal government to pay for increased costs of expanded Medicaid programs in the states of Nebraska and Louisiana in exchange for key votes from their senators.

I wonder if Ben Nelson had to wear a mini-skirt and can call Harry Reid “Big Daddy” to finalize the deal?

I trust he will be fair in his questions and guide his fellow Republicans to a vote for or against. 

When President Barack Obama sends Congress his nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, the Republican leading the critique of his or her qualifications will be Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, one of the more conservative members on Capitol Hill.

After a few days of negotiations inside the GOP, Sessions’ fellow Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday endorsed naming him as the ranking minority member of the committee, and the full party caucus is scheduled to ratify the decision today.

With the appointment, Sessions shoots from the rank-and-file into a high-profile leadership role just in time for the heated national debate over who should be the next Supreme Court justice, replacing David Souter.  (Source)

We must also thank Sen. Arlen Specter for jumping ship to Sen. Sessions (a true conservative) can lead the way.  The minority party is actually in the power here, as at least one vote from the minority is required to approve a nominee.

Thanks to Arlen Specter finally throwing off the cloak of being a Republican and showing his true colors, liberal democrat, the position is open to a republican with back-bone, honor and the belief in the true American way set down by the founding fathers. 

The job came open when Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania on Tuesday announced his switch to the Democratic Party. Republicans ever since have been scrambling to figure out who would succeed him on the high-profile committee.

Good Luck Senator! You have my vote.

Bama Lanes in Phenix City may have been damaged by what some eyewitnesses reports indicate was a tornado.  We are still awaiting confirmation of whether or not an actual tornado touched down.

Power is out for much of midtown Columbus. Georgia Power reports that 3200 customers in Columbus are without power.  Alabama Power say 4000 students are without power in the southern 2/3 of the state. At it’s peak, 3000 Phenix City residents were without power— now that is down to 1800. In Seale, 260 residents are without power.

We are about five miles into AL from the state line.  It got loud for a while (and I lost an hour of sleep until our warnings were over), but nothing like the last major storm two weeks ago and no damage. The septic tank is going to have to be pumped again, but that is what you have to deal with living in the country.

I’m sure its going to be a busy day around the office.  But thank God there was no loss of life.

If you have never heard Sen. Sessions when he’s not happy about something, you’re missing a well spoken man with a wicked sense of humor.

Here is a little part of his feelings on Tax Cheat Geithner:

You see, we now own about 80 percent of AIG. It is ours–yours and mine. Who then is to run AIG? Secretary Geithner? I like to call these high finance guys such as Mr. Geithner “masters of the universe.” He is now returning from Europe where he upbraided the Governments of France and Germany for not spending more money and for not invading deeper into the private sector and for not going into debt even more deeply to, as he would say, I guess, stimulate the economy. He thinks they ought to spend more and borrow more, and they are spending more and borrowing a lot. He thinks they should be spending more and borrowing more and they should be like us.

I suspect running AIG must be a bit distracting even for our fine master of the universe because he has taken on the duty of advising not only the President and our Congress on how to fix the economy, but he is now advising our big government friends in Europe who are concerned about taking on more debt. The world is his parish, it seems. All the while, the proud people of the United States, inheritors of a great tradition of free enterprise and limited Government, watched this spectacle unfold in total mortification.

Masters of the Universe.   You need to go read the whole thing (it is long but worth it).

Senator Sessions is a good man who loves his country and the people of Alabama.

Growing up in Southern Minnesota gave me an appreciation for snow — or should I say a hatred of it.

But living down south as long as I have, sometimes I miss it.  

Well today, snow arrived in Central Alabama.   I had to take pictures of course.

Yes, on January 28, Dear Leader Obama did sign the requests for emergency assistance from Kentucky and Arkansas’ Governor.

Today is February 9.  It has been over ten days since the major weather event and Dear Leader has had a date night with his wife and attended a retreat with his fellow dimwits – yet can’t be bothered to fly “over” Kentucky or Arkansas to survey the damage.

Ten days.

How many days after Katrina were the loony liberals screaming that Bush hated black people because he hadn’t personally waded into the flood waters and plucked people off the roofs or out of the stadium?

How many times did you hear how “the Bush administration failed the people of Katrina“?  Hell you’re still hearing it!!!

President GW Bush flew over flood ravaged southern Louisiana two days after the waters hit.   Obama has yet to even bother looking in the direction of Arkansas or Kentucky.

Maybe Barack Obama doesn’t like white people??

There are still people without power in Kentucky.  Don’t believe me because Chris Matthews is more worried about thrills running up his leg?  Do a search on the Internet.  You’ll see. 

Let us also remember that while on the campaign trail, Obama was seen filling sandbags in Quincey, Ill. when bad flooding was hitting that area.  Of course, that was when he was vying for the office of POTUS.   Now that he is POTUS, why bother with the little people?

Especially them white bitter clingers that probably didn’t vote for him anyway right?

Left powerless by ice storm, family finds web of complications - This story talks about how the families house’s wiring is not up to “code” with current power standards.  “Utility companies can’t restore power until families like hers make costly upgrades to their homes’ electrical systems.”   

February 2nd: Ky. asks Obama to speed federal aid for ice storm ”Kentucky’s governor will ask President Barack Obama on Monday to speed up federal aid dollars as costs spiral past $45 million for emergency work to restore power, hand out water and food and clear debris across the state hit hard by an icy winter storm last week.”

Michelle Malkin has been receiving email from people in Kentucky freezing and suffering while the POTUS plays. (Note: Google will tell you this link doesn’t exist.  But I went to her site through Yahoo! search and found the link works)

Another massive failure by the emperor with no clothes.  While the MSlobberingM sleeps on news stories, people are dying. 

On November 4, 2008 when they did not vote for Obama, did they realize at all that he would retaliate by ignoring their plight?
