If you haven’t heard the name Charlie Sheen by now maybe living under a rock isn’t so bad.

Sheen Mug Shot

He’s gone off the deep end — again. And this time someone finally grew a set and fired back.

For some unknown reason (at least to me) Sheen got on a radio talk show and blasted his bosses at CBS. It was some pretty vile stuff – but because he’s been babied (ala Lindsey Lohan and Brittney Spears), he probably felt nothing would happen to him. I mean, he is the son of one of the best known and loved actors in Hollywood right?

[CBS halted production on Two and Half Men] just hours after recordings of a Sheen interview with syndicated radio personality Alex Jones went viral. In the interview, Sheen repeatedly attacked the show’s creator, executive producer Chuck Lorre, whom Sheen insisted on calling “Chaim Levine.”

Among the nastier bits of the interview, Sheen told Jones: “Check it, Alex: I embarrassed [Lorre] in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that his unevolved mind cannot process. Last I checked, Chaim, I spent close to the last decade effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is [that] this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write.” Source

So while Charlie goes off on a love affair of himself, his co-workers are left stranded. Yes, Charlie is supposedly the star of the show, but if anyone has watched it for any length of time, you know the show wouldn’t be without Jake, Alan & Berta. Could the show go on without him? Probably not for long. The humor of the show surrounds Charlie and his childish ways, and how the other characters react to him. Although Charlie Harpers’ life is not as dramatic as Charlie Sheen’s, the parallels are the same.

Charlie Sheen is a drug addicted, ego-maniac that has been allowed to destroy lives around him. I really feel sorry for his children. They didn’t ask for this creep to be their father.

Charlie – you need professional help in a lock down facility.

But right now – I really don’t care what you do. You do not effect my life in any other way than to add some eye rolling humor on occasion. Go get clean and sober. Its the best thing for everyone.

Although we are not going to miss the diva cry baby whining out of Brandy, the results were just wrong.

Brandy could have gone home week one and I would have been happy; but Bristol should have gone home a few weeks ago too.

Bristol did a brave thing going on DWTS. With all the hatred in this country for everything Palin, putting herself back out there in the spot light took guts.

We were upset when Mel B and Sabrina Bryan went home too early – so the best dancers have been voted off before. And come on people, we spent too many weeks stomaching Cloris Leachman when she was on the show.

But why didn’t Brandy’s fans keep her on there? Were they not as diligent as Palin’s fans? Evidently not.

Still, it was wrong. I can’t imagine how Bristol feels this morning. With the reaction from the audience and the other dancers, she must be feeling very alone.

I am not all that excited about this season of Dancing with the Stars. Normally the SGM and I are settled on the couch and enjoy the glamor of the dresses and the silliness of Tom Bergeron. But I think watching So You Think You Can Dance this season, for the first time, made us appreciate the unknowns more than the “stars”.

The weirdness of the show bringing in people such as Cloris Leachman almost ruined it for us. She hung around way too long and frankly was NOT all that funny.

This season’s line up did not get me excited one bit. I am still not sure if I’m going to watch it all or not, but missing it is not going to upset me either.

The cast was announced the other day is another reason I’m not all that hyped up to watch. With Bristol Palin on the dance floor, the last thing I want to do is sit and listen to the liberal judges attack her and her mother after each dance.

But thanks to BroadwayWorld.com, I might just have changed my mind. They have posted pictures from some of the practice season (over dosed with Bristol Palin).

They look interesting, although I’m not that big on Florence Henderson or Margaret Cho. I hope that Florence isn’t the “token” old person that just stiffly dances around the floor. Margaret Cho is a Rosie O’Donnell wanna be and has a mouth like a drunken sailor. I do hope they’ve told the David Hasselhoff that he can’t have one drink while on the show.

But - One crack that is meant to harm about Sarah Palin and I’m done watching.

So we’ll see.

Are you going to watch?

A silent count-down for "24".

I was not in the least bit surprised to hear that “24″ would be shutting off the production lights at the end of this season. Any fan of this show has to painfully admit this season is awful, not as bad as last years, but still awful. They have regurgitated too many plot lines and frankly, I’m sick and tired of CTU always having a mole, someone working their with a past, etc. This is suppose to be the stop security agency in the US and I think I’d feel safer at the local 7/11.

The anticipation is gone to watch this show. I have last week’s sitting on the DVR – not watched. I have already found out Dana is a terrorist (go figure). So CTU gets attacked (again) and a terrorist has infiltrated it (again). Blah Blah Blah.

I was beginning to think the writers were throwing darts at a board of all the previous season’s story lines and just writing them in.

The one good thing they did was dump Kim early on so we didn’t have to deal with her whining and crying the whole time.

Supposedly there is talk about a movie. Okay – that sounds like something promising which could bring the show back to its original glory.

A once really great show that had our Monday’s buzzing and our Tuesday’s nothing but chatter about it has petered out to nothing.

Yes, it is time the silent clock counts down on this show.

.

It Was All About Michelle? (24 Season 7 Thoughts)

When Tony held a gun to the bad guy and told him just why he’d done everything in the past 24 hours, I was as dumb struck as Jack ..

It was all for Michelle?

Okay … now we find out she was pregnant with his son.

But still … all the people that died, and are dying (Jack), was because a mad man killed his wife and son.

Of course the SGM chimed in and said he’d go after anyone that hurt me.

But would you kill two plane load’s of people? Would you commit your once best friend to a horrible death?

Could you walk away from it all and sleep at night knowing you avenged the death in spite of all the people you had to kill to do it?

I am still stunned the whole season was based on one person’s revenge.

That could be the point of it all. Some people are wired that way. Jack always does what is in his heart, even if its not the “lawful” thing to do. Can we then justify Tony doing what he did because of how he felt in his heart?

Other thoughts …

It was sweet to see little Ms. Taylor getting her comeuppances ala her mother the Prez. Loved it! We adore Aaron Pierce and it was good to see him back in the saddle and doing what he does best – the right thing.

The most surprising part of the show was … Kim. Like most 24 viewers, except the males of course, I cannot stand Kim. She screeches too much like her mother Teri and is about as dumb as a box of rocks. (Do we have to bring up the cougar scene?)

BUT – Kim has grown up and it showed. The acting was much improved and the maturity was evident. Marriage and motherhood brought out the best of Kim Bauer. She didn’t wine, she didn’t snivel, she did as her dad asked and walked away. The old Kim wouldn’t have. Bravo!

About half way through this season, I was seriously considering just trashing this show and moving away. Too much “green shit” and Janis overload.

The producers must have realized viewers weren’t too happy with the “politically correct Janis” and the “go green” commercials because Janis actually had me cheering for her at the end and the green commercials seemed to fall by the way side.

Yes, I’ll wait with baited breath for the next 24.

Your thoughts?

Goodbye Guiding Light

Seventy-two years. Wow! 1937 to 2009 is a long time to be part of first radio and then television history.

I grew up with Young & Restless, As the World Turns and Guiding Light. Afternoons were grandma time and you either sat with her while she watched her “stories” or played somewhere else really quiet like.

I stopped watching many years ago. Can’t really explain why, or remember exactly when, but I want to say it was around the time of the Reva Shane (my hero) clone story. I love sci-fi, but soaps are suppose to be about love in the afternoon – not if someone flew to the moon.

Soaps audiences have declined over the years, with the advent of the VCR, DVR and Soap Net, and they claim women going to work instead of staying home. We who remained loyal found other ways to enjoy our stories. I stopped taping General Hospital and watch it online now. Even Soap Net lost its sparkle a long time ago too.

I remember Reva Shane dancing in the town fountain in a red corset calling herself the town slut. Josh sat in his wheel chair lost in his thoughts and his heart breaking. That was what a soap opera should be.

Television in the afternoon is changing fast and soaps will be around in some format, but I feel the cancelling of Guiding Light is just the start of the end of the genre on television.

Thanks for the memories.

New Shows from ABC & NBC

This its not some weird new game put out by Playfirst, but the title of two new television shows for this season.

Kings on NBC and Castle on ABC.

Watching Castle was a no brainer for me. Besides the previews looking funny, Nathan Fillion in the lead role grabbed me right away. I learned to enjoy Fillion’s acting when he was in Firefly.

If you haven’t seen Castle yet, here is the short of the show from the ABC website.

Wildly famous mystery novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is bored with his own success. Then he learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murder scenes depicted in his novels. Castle is questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a bright and aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under tight rein. Though they instantly clash, sparks of another sort also begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle steps in to help find the killer. And once that case is solved, he and Beckett build on their new relationship as they look to solve more strange homicides in New York – as much fun as one can have with death and murder.

There is a ton of humor in this crime show, and the under currents of sexual tension are there. The acting is fantastic in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed both episodes so far and will go back for more. Richard Castle has killed off his book-series star and has hit the writers block from hell. A series of murders are patterned after scenes from his books, so the NYPD stop by his book launch party to talk to him. Sticking himself into the investigation, his eyes as a writer give the lead detective, Kate Beckett, a different way of viewing a murder scene. Helps that she’s also a Richard Castle fan. Castle’s mother lives with him and his so-much-older than she is daughter and they mesh well as a family. I hope the series sticks around a good long time. I’m always up for a good crime “who-done-it”, as evidenced by the DVR set to record all three CSIs, Criminal Minds, and of course 24. I didn’t recognize Stana Katic at first, but once I looked up her acting credits, her face came into focus. She’s was in Day 3 of 24 and an episode of The Unit. Only two shows have aired so far, but I would suggest watching online, like I do.

Kings preview didn’t reach out and grab me like Castle’s did – but there was enough there to make me want to at least look. To pin-point what grabbed me I can’t put my finger on, but figured hey why not.

From the NBC website:

From executive producer From executive producer Michael Green ( NBC’s “Heroes” ) comes a riveting new drama about a modern day monarchy. “Kings” is a contemporary re-telling of the timeless tale of David and Goliath. This series is an epic story of greed and power, war and romance, forbidden loves and secret alliances — and a young hero who rises to power in a modern-day kingdom.

King Silas Benjamin (Ian McShane) is the well-entrenched king of Gilboa, whose flag bears a divine butterfly symbol. Gilboa has its capital in Shiloh, a clean new city that is unspoiled by time or litter. Silas must deal with the tensions rising between Gilboa and neighboring nation Gath. When several prisoners of war are taken, a young soldier, David Shepherd (Chris Egan), defies orders and crosses enemy lines to save them. Unknown to David, the soldier he saves is Jack Benjamin (Sebastian Stan), the son of the king. From that day forth, David’s life will never be the same.

I’ve only ever watched one hour of Heroes and that sent me into dream land. (Guess I really didn’t watch a whole hour then uh?) As with Castle, I watched online at the NBC site. The first hour was a snooze fest. I had to push to keep watching, but I can’t say there was even enough there in hour two to have me going back for the next episode. Fictional country with a King. Yawn. Total control. Yawn. I mean .. whoopie do. A war. Snore. The good guy, Shepherd (from the farm, all around baby-faced kid from a small town) saves the King’s son after he was captured during a combat operation. (An operation you later learn is set up to do just that by his father). The King brings Shepherd to the “kingdom” and lavishes him with a huge party where he’s totally out of place. Of course the King’s son is jealous and we find out later is gay, and the King’s wife is a flake and the daughter falls for Shepherd.

When the two hours were up I just thought “hrumpf”. Don’t think I’m going to be watching anymore of this show, online or off.

Thumbs up to Castle. Thumb half way down for Kings.

Your thoughts if you’ve seen either?

Commercials Suck

I.Hate.Commercials.

For the most part – ALL commercials. Okay okay – those with cute puppies usually get me, but – commercials suck. And not only do you have to put up with national commercials, then you have Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob from Duck’s Car Sales in a dirty knock-off polo shirt trying to sell you a used Hummer, with the volume at MAX!!

So why is Fox and Fringe my new friends?

Thirty to Ninety second commercials.

I’ll give you time to pick up your jaw, but you heard me correctly. Of course those that have already experienced Fringe and the above, I have one question. Have they spoiled us or what?

I started watching Fringe because the Sci-Fi element on television is dying a slow death and I need some of the odd-ball and Fringe mixes sci-fi, humor and crime in one neat ‘ittle package – AND shorter commercials.

Sunday night not only was Survivor pushed back because CBS has the brains of floor rug and won’t just cancel 60 Minutes when the football game runs over, but after you’ve waited for your favorite show to come on (ie: Survivor finale), then you have to put up with enough commercials to make you just put a 9mm in your mouth and pull the trigger.

At one point there were five commercials, then a three second flip back to Survivor to hear Jeff say, “We’ll be right back,” and then another five commercials. I was beyond homicide and had moved into suicide by then. I gave up before they got to announcing where Survivor was going next (already knew anyway) and just went to bed.

With Fringe, when its time for a commercial break, the screen goes dark and there is a leaf or a frog, or some element from the show and a voice says, “Fringe will return in XX seconds”. Not minutes – SECONDS! And trust me on this folks, you don’t have time to pick up the remote and hit mute cause of good old Billy-Joe-Jim-Bog, because he isn’t on there and by the time you do it anyway, the show is back on. Plus, if you DVR it, its not worth trying to fast-forward through the commercials, because the time is so short, why bother?

Well, that’s just the idea behind shorter commercials – people don’t fast forward, leave the room, etc and attention has increased. After dealing with the crap Sunday night with Survivor, CBS and the flood of commercials – I vote for Fringe and Fox. Pay attention CBS, NBC, & CBS – this the future.

Yeah! Finally a pair that I wanted to win Dancing With The Stars actually WON!!

Two hours of OMG shoot me now I don’t care fill-in stuff brought us to Derek and Brook’s final dance that brought tears to Carrie Ann’s eyes and three 10′s from the judges.

TV Squad has some great pictures of the evening.

Now for next year – Get rid of fan voting, or give the Judge’s scores more weight, because Lance Bass just came way too close to winning it all.
