I confess to being a news junkie.
I have been since the 2000 elections and I found Fox News. Finally, news that was balanced - gave the truth on a lot of issues, even if I didn’t agree or like the answers. I trust them, to a point, better than CBS, NBC, or ABC.
But now even Fox News in my last nerve.
In reality it is not their fault. Now that the 2008 campaign season has started a year earlier than normal - the sight of Billary on damn near every news segment is making me sick to my stomach - revolted doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Then you have John “Flip Flop” Kerry crossing the pond, ala Dixie Chicks, and slamming the United States, or should I say our President for something Kerry voted against. He believes the citizenry of this country are so stupid that we can’t research past events that he can blatantly lie about things he was involved in and get away with it. Didn’t he learn from the Swift Vets in the 2004 election cycle?
I can’t take anymore.
The liberal left is hell bent on destroying this country from the inside out, demanding we pacify terrorists and stop fighting a war meant to protect our future; even dragging out the traitorous hag Jane Fonda.
They talk about wanting government controlled healthcare - and this is what shakes me to the core of my being. No more being able to chose my doctor. No more being able to chose to purchase non-generic medications, out of my own pocket, because generics make me sick. No more Armour Thyroid that saved my life, because it doesn’t fit into the current teachings of Endos at medical schools supported by $ynthroid makers. I will be forced to use a medication that has already proven by my medical records to almost have killed me instead of helping; all on government controlled healthcare. And don’t get me started on what the hell they will do to me in regard to my diabetes treatment - I might as well just shoot myself because the liberal socialist communist controlled healthcare system will kill me off slowly anyway.
The news is too much for me now - and too scarey to watch, read or listen to.
The liberals scare the hell out of me, especially Billary and her monster machine of hatred for this country.
I’m sick of the lies, the abuses heaped on other candidates, and we have how many months until the general election? Too many to have to be slammed in the face 24/7 with this crap.
I’m taking a break.
No more Fox News.
No more Rush.
No more Hannity.
And I’m cutting out a few of my blogs too (thanks Tre).
I think I’m going to live on Cartoons for a while.
My brain needs a break.

Hello: You are so ‘right on’ Same O! Same O! Just too much negative negativity. Cartoons are good though, kind of! I like the way you write (right) with just a gentle hint of sarcasm but with a smile. But you must eventually return to what you do best, huh?! Right write. mc
I was adding all of my old blog posts back in over the weekend, and found all of the ones during the 2004 election…and I remember distinctly thinking my head was going to pop off from all the news and all the insanity and how it just drove me batty at the time.
So, I get what you’re saying. If you really want some insanity, check out the lame reality shows on MTV…same idiocy, different generation.
I felt the same way prior to the 2006 elections. I took a good 9 months off from reading political blogs and tuning into FOX every evening.
I am back to reading some blogs now and occasionally check out the news, but it is all just too much. The level of hate for this president is so off the charts ridiculous that it is overwhelming at times. My question for all of these twits is where is their hatred for the terrorists? How is it that GWB replaced them as the greatest of all evils? It is mind boggling.
Plus, I need to start posting more about things I love, ie: TV shows other than just “24″.
Yanno….I can completely relate and understand - I’ve stepped away from my news a bit as well. Which is why I’ve been blogging on mindless dribble such as American Idol. But for the moment my brain hurts a little less, and I get to watch really, really bad singing. :-)
I would argue that you’re not a news junkie if you get your news from Hannity, Rush, Fox News and blogs. You’re what marketing departments classify a media consumer. You watch and listen to shows specifically designed for literally fact-free light entertainment for people with certain ideologies with the delusion you’re doing your duty and informing yourself. Having a political viewpoint, one way or the other, doesn’t excuse this (and plenty of left leaners are guilty of this as well) - if you’re a news junkie I’m a sociologist because I watch sitcoms.
Learn to handle things being reported that make you feel uncomfortable and maybe you won’t feel so emotionally attached to political issues it is clear you know nothing about. It’s clear to me, for example, from your words about health care that you have not expended a single calorie of energy to read even one published word about what has been proposed. You’re scared of an illusion… a sad place to be.
I agree with that person above. You’re not watching real news. Doesn’t matter your position, political background or preference, etc. That channel does not now nor ever did have real news. It’s opinions and partisan propaganda fed to you to make you think you’re getting the true story. You’re not. If you were you would get actual journalism, and actual journalism is not supposed to have any opinion in it at all, just facts. If you hear something like “fair and balanced” enough times you start to believe it; don’t. Go find real facts about your favorite news story or candidate and stop feeding that excuse for a channel any more ratings.
