Terrorists Are On Notice …

Wednesday, 2 December 2009, 6:35

… we are pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan by 2011.   So just sit back, take a break from all that bomb making, and just wait.  We’ll be gone in 2011 (just before Obama thinks he’ll be re-elected).

We are now in more danger than ever before since 9/11.

Bend over America – its going to happen again.

But this time, 9/11 will look like a picnic compared to what the terrorists are going to cook up for us now that Obama is in charge.

Today, after extraordinary costs, we are bringing the Iraq war to a responsible end.  We will remove our combat brigades from Iraq by the end of next summer, and all of our troops by the end of 2011.  That we are doing so is a testament to the character of the men and women in uniform.  (Applause.)  Thanks to their courage, grit and perseverance, we have given Iraqis a chance to shape their future, and we are successfully leaving Iraq to its people.

(Emphasis Mine) Since when did Barack Obama give a rats ass about the cost of anything?  This man is plunging this country into bankruptcy as fas as he can and he’s bitching about the cost of a War?

But taken together, these additional American and international troops will allow us to accelerate handing over responsibility to Afghan forces, and allow us to begin the transfer of our forces out of Afghanistan in July of 2011.  Just as we have done in Iraq, we will execute this transition responsibly, taking into account conditions on the ground.  We’ll continue to advise and assist Afghanistan’s security forces to ensure that they can succeed over the long haul.  But it will be clear to the Afghan government — and, more importantly, to the Afghan people — that they will ultimately be responsible for their own country.  ~Whitehouse.gov

Dude – Afghanistan is NOT Iraq.  There was no stable (albeit a dictatorship) government in Afghanistan and hasn’t been for centuries.  There was no infrastructure to “fix” or “rebuild” – it ALL has to be built.  And if you think Kharzi is crooked – it goes all the way to the bottom.  You are not going to be able to stand up an Army or police force in Afghanistan when Afghanistan doesn’t give a rats ass about the country as a whole, only its province, hut, or mountain cave.  There is no pride in country over there.  This is a whole different animal than Iraq.

So play with your tin soldiers President Obama – but remember, they bleed and die.  And vote.  So do their families.

Jo: I think reading your blog post makes my blood sugars rise, but that’ probably for another writing…

You’re correct that Afghanistan has basically had no infrastructure and everything must be built; that’s exactly what we’re doing there now – defending, fighting on the offensive, training those troops, building infrastructure on so many levels, and assisting the regular folk with charity and aid. That’s the point – so we don’t stay there forever, but do indeed enable the country to stand on its own and defend itself while not turning into a terrorist hotbed endangering the world. You may notice that he says “responsible” withdrawl as the conditions warrant – I’m sure you realize that means there’s room to negotiate when and how we leave down the road. We’re currently “waiting it out” now, jut waiting until something slips through the cracks and hits the U.S. hard. We have to ensure that they can take care of themselves, and the world is behind that movement and willing to help as needed. That cooperation and infrastructure are critical components to all this, to ensure it doesn’t just end like Vietnam.

We may disagree on points, but I enjoy reading your blog and look forward to it (like we’re drawn to car accidents?). Kidding – stray humor. Best, anyhow.
