USA 1, Pirates 0
It was a picture perfect ending to a stand-off that had lasted for almost a week. Could have been movie by how it ended, with the good-guys winning.
Navy SEAL snipers on the fantail of a destroyer cut down three Somali pirates in a lifeboat and rescued an American sea captain on Easter Sunday. The surprise nighttime assault in choppy seas ended a five-day standoff between a team of rogue gunmen and the world’s most powerful military. ~ Fox News
The good guys are the United States, lead by the best of the best, US Navy Seals. People, well some people, are amazed at the shooting ability of the Seals, and rightly so if you aren’t around the military every day or handle a gun. Yet, circumstances of the shots made were not ideal, but practiced. Its called “muscle memory”. These guys train for every type scenario that can be concocted. They shoot from flying helicopters, mountains, off ships, etc. Practice makes perfect. One Shot – One Kill is the sniper’s creed, no matter the branch of service.
The United States won a small victory here. Some how advisers got through to Barack Obama and convinced him to free the hands of the people “on the ground” and the results were to the good. I will give him his due for that. But I will not call it his first military victory as some are (ie: Main Stream “thrill up my leg” Media)
The pirate remaining will be brought back to the United States, tried in court and then tucked away in a nice prison somewhere to be fed and clothed by the US Tax Payer.
But alas, as I prepare this post, we learn the pirates have taken another ship …

A small victory, indeed. Many of our domestic media sources are already crying fowl on behalf of the pirates. CBS – for one – is saying that we now have more to fear as we have angered these guys.
(Color me quaking in my socks)
Last I heard, there have been four (4) vessels seized since the freeing of the American Captain. These lowlifes are pissed and in this age of immediate hand-wringing, may believe that they can sustain themselves indefinitely by hijacking ships for ransom.
Who knows… maybe the UN will grant them a charter to steal?
