WeekEND Wrap v15

My blogging friend Redoubt over at Sin City Inquisition & Bar B Q starts out his great blog posts with famous quotes from people in history, so I’ve decided I like that idea and am going to try and see if I can do that with a few posts now and again.  But I want to give credit to where I got the idea.

Just living is not enough… One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.” ~ Hans Christian Andersen

Welcome to the another great weekend everyone! Please remember to say a prayer for Capt. Richard Phillips still being held hostage by Somali thugs.  Obama appears to care more for his pizza than a United States Citizen’s life. Even his SOS thinks the whole situation is laughable. Pathetic.

stuffDid you know: Leaving PCs on overnight costs companies $2.8B a year? Sure this article devolves into a “green” finger-wagging article, but the big point is the cost of utilities at any business, large are small has to be staggering. Just a simple shutting down of your PC before leaving work could help you boss save some money. Come on folks, PC’s today don’t take 10 minutes to boot like in the old days. Shut ‘em down. The Black Sphere has a great six-minute video interview with the 88 year old Mayor of Mississauga, Ontario (Canada).  She has been the Mayor for 31 years, and the city has zero debit and $700 million in reserve.  This is no small city either.  It’s the sixth largest in Ontario, and, according to Wikipedia:

With a population of 704,000 as of the 2006 census, it is Canada’s sixth-most populous municipality, and has almost doubled in population in each of the last two decades. It had the largest population growth in Canada (89,500) between the census years of 1986-1991.

Maybe Obama and Congress could learn a few lessons from their elder up north uh?

Well folks, we have a full weekend planned.  Please be safe where ever you may be.

God Bless America!
