WeekEND Wrap v12

Saturday, 21 March 2009, 8:13

Come on in, the coffee is fresh on a great Saturday morning.  The first Saturday of the new Spring season.  stuffCan you feel the freshness in the air?  The renewal as the buds pop out on the magnolia trees?  Our local news station sent the weather guy off to a local peach farmer to check on the Georgia Peach crop.  Looks like a good one this year and I can’t wait!

The only really bad thing about spring around these parts?  Pollen.  The pollen has to be 3x thicker than in the past (and I swear I say that every year too!).  You can watch it blow across the road like snow into drifts.   My truck  isn’t red, but some sick greenish color right now; and the stuff has gotten inside now.  Yuck!

The military did something its very good, and modest, at last week.  They honored their history.  Fort Benning is the home of the Infantry Museum.  For years its been housed in old WWI style barracks, but over the years and with the additions from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, its starting to bust at the seams.   A new one was budgeted and its about to open.  Before its officially open to the public (all the items from the old hasn’t been moved to the new yet), the first graduation of infantry soldiers took place on sacred ground.  See, the parade ground is made up of “consecrated by soil from eight battlefields where Americans have died for their country throughout its history.” (WTVM News Article with pictures)  How cool is that uh?  Once the museum officially opens, we’re going to visit it for sure.  Been in the old one, going to have to see the new one (and take a walk on that sacred ground).

I’m tired of this theme already … will be hunting a new one.

It has been announced David Tennant’s Doctor Who will go out in style, surrounded by three of his former companions and one bady.  Rose, Martha, and Donna will be there when he battles the Master in his last show before regenerating into the Matt Smith version of Who.  Question Sean asked via Twitter: @seanpaune @jmp5329 how in the world are they going to explain Donna talking to the Doctor without her head exploding? 0_o Who fans know that Donna’s mind was wiped because the combination of a human and time lord brain was too much and in order to save her, the Doctor had to wipe her brain of everything back to before they met.  He told her mother and grandfather she could never remember.  Going to be interesting to see how Davis’ pulls this off.

Now some articles of interest for you.

Enjoy! See you on Monday.
