I wish him well, but do not expect good things. If it weren't for the fact that we have apprently won an unpopular war and the Democrat is contorting everything he said to not pull out and cut off aid, I'd say it is the 1970s all over again: A series of commodity price-swings happened after two presidents in a row abandoned tight money, and a new guy mobilized a whole new constituency to vote without seeming to abandon the easy money one week hard money the next hysteria, the Midwest and Northeast are running our politics even as they empty out, teh Democratic President-elect is fighting almost as much with his own party in Congress as with the loyal opposition, Republicans are in bad odor after a president who was initially so succesful there had been talk of a permanent realignment (though the Democrats who succeeded them are getting pasted with their own scandals), Israel is fighting and winning wars no one expected it to win and the Europeans are abandoning their facile anti-Americanisms even as they slowly realize they cannot really negotiate with the enemy we are fighting for them and their triangulation was all for naught. Eric, we don’t have to hope he fails to hope he doesn’t succeed.

Failure has lots of levels. I’d love to see him fail to accomplish his more socialist goals…minimize the damage a Conservative will hopefully be asked to clean up later.

I’d also love to see The One fall out of favor with his hypnotized celebrity-obsessed fans. I figure either the far left (you’re not socialist enough) or the media-led middle (OMG, what did I vote for?) will go first. The Left is already starting and he hasn’t even been coronated yet!

Obama succeeding means United Socialist States of America. I can’t casually give him enough rope to hang our country.

Jo,

I know what you’re saying about the inauguration on Tuesday. I feel the same way about it (Bernie Goldberg calls it a “slobbering love affair”.) However, I can’t bring myself to wish him ill will. Sure, I hope his policies fail – BIGTIME! I’m not looking forward the next four years at all. However, he is our President. The people of this country elected him, whether we like it or not. (I sure as heck don’t.)

But if we say we want the Presidency to fail, then we’re saying we want our country to fail – and I can’t say that. I truly hope that, based on the briefings he’s had with the Bush Administration, that he now knows the full truth of what we’re facing and he presides accordingly. Now that he knows what Bush knows, I think a lot of things that he’s promised will not come to fruition and he’ll preside more from the center. He’s already backtracked on some things. I just hope we see him backpeddling more the more he learns. I will be praying for him and our country.

Jo, I am always surprised when I read your posts because you hit the political stuff right on the head! My very thoughts on the whole Inauguration! I have been calling Obama King Of the World. I’m not planning to watch any of the crap on tv and will try to avoid most of the news for a few days, though I am an avid FOX News watcher. I’m not happy with the celebrity of Obama. I’m definitely not happy with the election outcome. I feel people are blinded by the “light” so to speak. Sure, he’s a good talker, just like good ‘ol boy Bill Clingon. UGH! But if you really listen to O, he’s not really saying anything, just like Bill used to do., well, still does. O Has people wrapped around his finger. I don’t understand the gaganess of it all.

And what’s with this Lincoln theme? From what I’ve been reading O seems arrogant as to compare himself to Lincoln. People need to remember their history. Lincoln did away with state’s rights. hmmmm…sounds familiar huh. People seem to want more government governing their lives because they can’t take care of themselves, I guess.

I also agree with you about the plane crash. You just know people are going to sue for something though they all made it out alive. Events happen in our lives that sometimes, we have no control over and no one else does either. Be thankful for another day is what I say!
