John McCain will suspend his presidential campaign Thursday and has asked to postpone his debate Friday with Barack Obama so the two senators can return to Washington to help negotiate a Wall Street bailout, an approach that Obama promptly rejected.
“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system,” McCain said in mid-afternoon remarks to reporters in New York. “If we do not act, every corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.”
Sen. Barack Obama:

Obama responded by saying that such disruptive measures were unnecessary.
“Presidents are going to have to deal with more than one thing at a time,” Sen. Obama said. “It’s not necessary for us to think that we can only do one thing and suspend everything else.” He said that he and McCain have large campaign planes that can get them out of Mississippi and back to Washington quickly.
The President said “get back to work John and Barack“.
John McCain didn’t need reminding what his current job is, he knew.
That’s experience.
That’s putting Country First.
Barrack Obama had to make light of his job as a senator and jab at McCain’s age by insinuating he couldn’t do 2 things at once. Classy.

I heard that McCain was the one who requested this meeting with President Bush, Obama and congressional leaders. I bet they won’t be reporting this in the MSM.

I was watching the public twitter feed last night and of course the Obama sickofants were saying that McCain was afraid to debate Obama. They’ll justify anything to explain away Obama’s lack of experience or care for this country.

McCain afraid of debating Obama on Foreign Policy? That’s a good one. Idiots.
I read where Bob Schieffer reported that Paulson requested McCain come to D.C. and get the Republicans in the loop to vote for the legislation. He knew the Dems would be all in favor of a big bailout. Interesting.

I heard the same thing, Conservative Belle. It’s in his speech; yet, no MSM outlet is playing that part. At least Fox News has a link to the transcript.
At first, I was upset with McCain “suspending” his campaign - but the more I read and realized what he was trying to do, the more I realized it’s actually a brilliant move. Show people you care more for the country than you do for your own personal gain.
However, I don’t think most Americans (or Republicans for that matter) will see it that way.
