If Conservatives refuse to vote for McCain if he choses a pro-choice VP and stay home … wouldn’t they be getting worse by allowing for Obama to get elected?
Aren’t Obama’s anti-life policies more damaging to this country then if the “vice president” of the United States as a Republican believes in pro-choice?

This is my whole argument about voting for McCain. Staying home proves nothing other than letting Obama win and the country suffers. It’s not about any single voter’s ego. It’s the good of the country. Single issue voters are rarely pacified anyway.

For me, it was the lesser of two evils, as usual. Then the Russians invaded georgia and everything changed. I don’t know how any reasonable, intelligent, thoughtful American who cares for the future of this nation could do anything other than vote for McCain. Heaven help us.

My mouth twitches on this subject. On one hand I agree with your principle. On the other hand, using Karen’s point, it isn’t about a candidate’s ego either. McCain knows how bad Obama is and he knows he has conservatives over a barrel on just about any decision he makes. This is the type of mentality which has plagued the GOP for a while now and one which caused me to forsake my membership and support local candidates instead of giving to the party.
It isn’t about one issue for me, unless that issue is SCOTUS appointments. That is the only issue that keeps me wondering about McCain. Like I said it is about the future of the GOP and who will lead when McCain’s gone. And would Ridge appoint judges who would be like Souter? Then what could happen to our 2nd Amendment rights?
And it isn’t just about abortion issues because McCain selected pro-life Huckabee as VP, I’d probably vote 3rd party. McCain and Huckabee were my least favorite candidates in the bunch.
