Have you ever been left to the last when someone is picking teams? When they do that on Survivor I shudder and feel badly for the last person chosen.
Not.Good.Enough is the message being conveyed here and its usually based in the preconceived notions of the person doing the choosing.
But what does it convey to a seven-year-old that is chosen by her country to sing a national song praising the country that just kicked her to the curb?
Just because she has buck teeth?
Olympic officials insisted Wednesday the decision to have one girl lip-sync another’s voice during a song featured in the Beijing Games’ opening ceremony was not about who was cuter, but about achieving the best overall performance.
Organizers were put on the defensive after the musical director of last Friday’s games curtain raiser revealed the last-minute switch — the latest embarrassment for officials who have gone to extraordinary lengths to ensure the games are flawless.
Mabye they should worry more about keeping people visiting their country safe than if some girl “looks” perfect or not.

You know, I thought about this last night while I was watching the Chinese “womens” gymnastics team…a couple of the girls were missing teeth. Now, I don’t know if that’s because they are 16-year olds who just happen to be missing teeth or they’re actually little girls waiting for their adult teeth to come in…but, I guess it’s different with gymnasts. You can’t replace them with more aesthetically pleasing people.
