We all know that governments, from the smallest towns to Washington DC spend money they a) don’t have, b) will tax into being, and c) throw away on stuff not important.

Ta Dah … Columbus, GA welcome to list of Stupidity Gone Wild in Government list … (okay I just made that up!)

Starting out — the July 28, 2008 online edition of the Columbus Rag, er Ledger-Enquirer has an article titled, “So, when will that be done?“   It brings citizens of Columbus, GA up to date on projects their hard ended, and taken, taxes are paying for.

One such update is on the brand spanking new Muscogee County (Columbus GA and Muscogee County governments are combined) School Administration building … at a cost of (drum roll) $15+ million dollars.

Yup — pick up your jaw now … and hold on tight .. here comes the cherry on top.

Only July 26, 2008, the local ABC station (WTVM) ran a story about the failing schools in … you guessed it! Columbus, GA.

“21 Area Schools Under-perform in AYP Assessment” I kid you not!  Go read the article, I’ll wait here.

Okay … see what I mean?  City/County Government Gone Wild.  

Oh to see what could have been if that $15+ Million dollars had been spent on say, the “SCHOOLS”!!

We can see clearly here who is more important to your local government … its their comfort, not the education of the children.

Priorities people, priorities!!
