DiabetesNOW

Change is good and I’ve gotten myself stuck in a rut lately.

Too much TV watching and not enough time spent on the blog - and taking care of me.

I made a valient attempt at working out, even going to the foot doctor to make sure nothing was wrong there.  I did start walking, but because of the time and heat, I’ve used excuses not to.  Early morning would be best, but then that would mean I’d have to get up earlier.

But - excuses have to be dealt with head on - and its time I do too.  I would love hubby to go with me, but he just looks at me and crosses his eyes.   Diabetes care cannot be put off until “tomorrow”, diabetes is NOW and forever.  I think that he if were more involved in taking care of himself, it would help motivate me.  After 23 years of forced PT in the Army, I figured I’ll have to wait a bit long for him to join me.

So, getting back to it again.  Even if I’m only walking 15 minutes a day - its something and more than I’m doing now.  One foot in front of the other … and a dog at my side.

I know some may think that using del.icio.us to links to stories is a sloppy way of posting, but I find a lot of great stories throughout the week and lumping them into one post is easier.  It’s not a copout - its a way to showcase news stories and articles that effected me and may effect you.  So … here they are for this week.

  1. Newly Diagnosed Type 2s Should Receive All-Out Drug Intervention, Says Texas Prof - Diabetes Health

An estimated 24 million Americans have diabetes, but according to the CDC, one-quarter to one-third don⊘t know it. How can so many individuals be unaware that they have diabetes? Certainly, one major factor is the absence of symptoms.
  3. Metformin May Help Obese Teen Girls Lose Weight

So another week comes and changes can be made by all of use to prevent diabetes. For those of us with the disease, we can improve our care. Have a great day everyone!
