High Blood Pressure Meds

May 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments · The Owner

The doctor put me on high blood pressure medication 3 weeks ago.  I’ve had to switch once due to fear of deadly side effects of one.

I have tried to take what he replaced it with, but I can’t tolerate it at all.   By 2 pm I am so tired, dizzy and disoriented I’m scared to do anything more than curl up in a ball.

I quit taking it all together last Monday and by Wednesday I felt fine.   I tried again over the weekend and by Monday I came down with a major chest and head cold (again, happened on the first meds).   I could barely make it home.  I swore I wouldn’t take it again … but my BP was elevated last night so took half a dose.

Here I am again — tired, wiped slap out, dizzy and disoriented.

Has anyone else had these issues and do I just need to keep calling the doctor and telling him to try something else?

Thanks!

I take blood pressure medication, too. My bp wasn’t too elevated, though, so mine is mostly a direutic. I had to adjust to it, though. I think all of them make you sleepy until your system gets used to it. If it is too much for you, though, just keep having it adjusted until you can live comfortably. I think there are a few different drugs out there to try. Good luck.

I take these things twice a day and yes, there have been occasions, though rare, when my BP crashed and I felt like I was on the doorstep to the hereafter.

I’m no doctor but I would certain advise extreme caution… and another visit to your physician to get the dosing trimmed to fit your personal needs.
