Short Shot-China

by Jo | April 7th, 2008

I don’t mind a person protesting against China and all that is wrong with that government.
But people — the Olympic torch is not a symbol of China but of the games.

The Olympics should not have been given to China, but we can’t stop that now and attacking a physical object like the Olympic torch is not going to stop the games. You are putting the carriers in danger by your actions.

Boycotting the games hurts the athletes, not China. Silently protesting once there by not putting any money into the economy, other than what is necessary, is one way.

These protestors putting people’s lives in danger are no better than the terrorists on 9/11.

  1. I agree with you on not punishing the athletes. Putting out the torch is just a waste of time. Do any of these people really think change will be brought to China over the Olympics? Please.

  2. I was thinking of writing almost the exact same blog post today. Couldn’t agree with you more.

  3. We all know that China has had a longer history of human rights issues, even when they were awarded the Olympics many years before the Tibet situation.
