OMG when I heard about this line from Obama’s speech yesterday, I almost blew a gasket!
The document they produced was eventually signed but ultimately unfinished. It was stained by this nation’s original sin of slavery, a question that divided the colonies and brought the convention to a stalemate until the founders chose to allow the slave trade to continue for at least twenty more years, and to leave any final resolution to future generations.
Yes he went on to explain how through growth and struggle the slaves were set free, choirs of angels desended from heaven .. oops … sorry, was channeling Hillary there for a second. Note to self: Get that fixed. Ugh.
Barack Hussein Obama — we know our country’s history. We also know that the BLACK PEOPLE IN AFRICA SOLD THEIR OWN PEOPLE INTO SLAVERY!!!! Why did you leave out Africa’s FIRST stain on their history in your speech?
He goes on …
This was one of the tasks we set forth at the beginning of this campaign — to continue the long march of those who came before us [...] towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren.
This belief comes from my unyielding faith in the decency and generosity of the American people. But it also comes from my own American story.
Are these the same people your pastor says created the AIDS virus to destroy “people of color”?
He brings up Michelle …
I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners — an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters.
Yes, the same women who says this country is “mean” in the year 2008. And you identify her as being from slaves …. tsk tsk … thought we were suppose to be getting past our stain?
On Rev. Wright … he does a John Kerry and flip flops…
Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes.
On March 14th he said he hadn’t …. (HT: Basil)
The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign.
Sorry Barack Hussein Obama … you aren’t any different than any typical politician, except that for 20 years you have had your head filled with the clap trap of a hate filled man.
Jeremiah Wright’s radical views on this country and Christianity are right out of Bin Ladin’s play book of hatred toward this country.
This folks is not the dream Martin Luther King spoke of.
Barack Hussein Obama won’t let go of the past, the “stain” of slavery — and this comes from the teachings of his minister, Rev. Wright. Speaking of Rev. Wright … let me tell you something there bucko. This country you hate so much gives you the freedoms to spout your hate-filled diatribe. Try doing that shit from a pulpit in Iran and see how long you live.
I was born into this wonderful country in the year 1959 to immigrant families from Germany, Sweden and etc. I’m half German half mutt.
MY FAMILY NEVER OWNED SLAVES!!!
I refuse to wear your stain of slavery Barrack.

As a descendant of Revolutionary War soldiers, I’m from a family that was in this country during the time of slavery. Only thing is, my family was poor White folks. They didn’t own slaves. Most White folks didn’t.
My family lived the sharecropper’s life: working for the rich folks, unable to buy their way out of service until well after many slaves they shared quarters with were free.
(But I’m not equating my family’s experience with that of the family of slaves. There was a difference: my ancestors counted as as 1 in the census, instead of 3/5.)
Anyway, the facts don’t matter, it seems, to some folks. Obama, Wright, and that ilk seem to think I’m just an evil Whitey who helped stain this country.
Basil’s last blog post..Obama heard the comments before he didn’t hear them…

Alas, no slave ownership history in my family, either. I’m half Austrian, half English and they settled in the mid west of the country. I’m first generation Southern. Obama is just now under the microscope and it’s high time. Turns out, he’s just another politican. Heh.
