Digging through over 300 RSS feeds sometimes leaves one to miss posts on subjects that irk the crap out of you and that’s good. Then come the slim days where light blogging drops the posts coming through to like 25. This allows time to actually “read” the description of the post and maybe even the whole post.

Today I found a post in reference to an “infiltrator” to the blogging community at that blog. After reading the very confusing post as to what this person supports, or not, or whom, or WHATEVER … I was left with one thought …

… why bother posting about it?

Is this person a valued member of the blogging community? Couldn’t tell from the post about this person.

Did they threaten someones life? Couldn’t tell from the post about this person.

Did they violate the communities rules for posting? Couldn’t tell … okay you get the point. I couldn’t tell WHAT this infiltrator did actually. I read the post three times; becoming more confused each time.

So — do you believe that a blog post should be wasted on someone that has not been truthful to the community, thus humiliating them? Wouldn’t this cause more problems in the long run than simply banning the person AFTER explaining to them why? If they choose to start a “blog war” over it, turn your back and move forward. Posting about blog wars and infiltrators to the community does nothing but make you look like Little Johnny squealing to mama.

I think we all have hard enough time finding great posts without having to fill the space with neneer neener posts about someone.

Your thoughts?

  1. I dunno - sometimes if they’re annoying enough, you gotta blog it. Of course as the blogger, you can post whatever you want and delete it later - as readers, we just get to shrug our shoulders and offer up a nice big “whatever” to the mood of the day.

I kinda like knowing I have the option, to blog about whatever trips my trigger, regardless of what anyone thinks about it. I also like knowing that if I change my mind, I can just delete it.

  2. Worthy point, Jo!

I am reminded of an old proverb…

“Blessed is the man, who having nothing to say, abstains from giving wordy evidence of the fact.”
    - George Eliot

  3. Huh? What did I miss?

  4. c.a. you didn’t miss anything. I saw another blogger call out a commentor on their blog about something fake and I was totally confused as to why and what the person did. My question is it necessary to do it in a blog post?
