I’ve been doing this since being told I was diabetic.  After much research, mainly on the About.Com Diabetes area, I decided that eating low and good carbs would be the best way for me.  Once I was stabilized on my medications, I found that “bad” carbs did more damage with my control than sugar itself.

Here are two great articles on low-carb eating to lose weight and control diabetes.

If I follow what some would call a modified Atkins, South Beach Phase II way of eating, I can keep my glucose levels within range and my weight stable.

Jimmy Moore’s Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Blog is another great place I read in regard to eating low carb.

Eating low carb doesn’t mean you can’t ever have “fun” food, I do all the time - within limits.  Once you start thinking low-carb, you eat better and make spurlge choices better.

  1. I completely agree…low carb helped me to lose 35 pounds four years ago, and I’ve managed to keep 25-30 of them off. I’ve noticed when I keep my carbs lower and eliminate the “bad” ones…I really do feel better.

  2. I wish more people paid attention to it actually. Sure there are those that will never have to worry about it, but when I hear people complain about not being able to get the extra weight off and are counting “calories” I just cringe
