Fire Derangement Syndrome

Good Lord! The liberals are sure on their talking points in regard to these fires aren’t they?
Before I go on – Lord God, please send a great amount of rain to California and put out these fires. Protect the protectors that are working so hard out there. Amen
Now on to the stupidity:
“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,†Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package.
Moments later, when asked by a reporter if he really believed global warming caused the fires, he appeared to back away from his comments, saying there are many factors that contributed to the disaster.
And for you liberal lemmings, I’ve heard the live version of the statement, the first one where he said the fires were caused by Global Warming and then denying making the statement. Rush has it, Sean Hannity has it, and I’m sure its out there somewhere – I just don’t have it yet.
… and you should have seen this one coming a mile away, right on cue Barbara Boxer comes out with the Iraq being the reason the National Guard isn’t able to help.
Right now we are down 50% in terms of our National Guard equipment because they’re all in Iraq, the equipment, half of the equipment. So we really will need help. I think all of our states are down in terms of equipment.
As we listened to the first hour of the Rush show last night, the SGM(R) said, “The equipment is combat equipment, not fire fighting equipment!” Hmmmm then Rush said this:
So what are the National Guard troops going to do, just stand there and blow in the opposite direction and say, “Fire, go away”? What are they going to do? This is such meaningless BS, and it is nothing more than politicizing a disaster –
Exactly
A little searching and I found this on Stars and Stripes:
Some Defense Department coordinating elements:
- Four-person DOD team is supporting the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho.
- Six-person Defense Coordinating Team is supporting the U.S. Northern Command’s Joint Field Office in Pasadena, Calif.
- Air Forces North is NORTHCOM’s designated Joint Air Component Commander: 20-person command assessment team in Pasadena, Calif.
- March Air Reserve Base is the DOD’s designated primary logistics base for supplies flowing south from the Federal Emergency Management Agency logistics center at Moffitt Field, Calif. North Island Naval Air Station is the backup.
Some DOD assets dedicated so far:
- 1,500 California National Guardsmen are actively engaged or directly supporting firefighting response, security and relief operations, including approximately 1,100 Army National Guard and 400 Air National Guard members.
- 12 firefighting teams and equipment are involved, with about 33 active-duty and 79 defense civilian personnel.
- About 550 Marines from the 1st Marine Division at Twentynine Palms are awaiting orders to form a task force to help fight fires in San Diego County.
- Two Navy MH-60 aircraft are operating in support of local firefighting efforts.
- One Marine CH-46 and three CH-53 helicopters are on stand by at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.
- One additional helicopter is on standby at Camp Pendleton.
- Six fire trucks each deployed by the Marine Corps and Navy to support local firefighting efforts.
- One Navy brush truck is supporting local firefighting efforts.
Highlighting is mine and disproves Boxer’s statement.
These people and their hatred is beyond the pale. What about the reports that there are 4 people being charged with Arson and one fire was started by a downed powerline? How does Global Warming or the troops in Iraq have anything to do with the fires? Nothing.
- NewsBlaze: Democrats Use Wildfires to Score Cheap Political Points
- AP: Feds join probe in SoCal wildfire
- Kansas City.com: Arson investigations begin in California wildfires
These fires have NOTHING to do with global warming and the fighting of them is not deminished by the fact “combat equipment” is in Iraq or Afghanistan. There is more and more evidence coming out that they were intentionally set. From the reports I’ve been reading and listening to, the people there have moved out when told to (not like those in New Orleans) and the the local government, along with the State, have managed to help those displaced and keep the Katrina human disaster from happening again.

These fires are no doubt tragic but another tragedy is in how they are being used as a political tool.
Regardless of the how or why, people are losing their homes to a fire that is run amok with those ferocious winds. After those stand-alone facts, the possibility that they were intentionally set (arson) makes it still worse. This event doesn’t need a bunch of fatheaded political types trying to cop a cheap feel from it.

Good post, Jo. I blogged about it, too, though yours is more thorough. My take was on how predictable the whole liberal bashing was in a tragedy. The first response is to start pointing fingers, right at Bush. It’s ridiculous.

Jo,
Right on! Excellent research, too. I’m going to link this and Digg it! We (all the conservative blogs) need to flood Digg with posts like this to help “conservify” Digg.
Keep up the good work!
