I picked up the latest O, The Oprah Magazine yesterday and read an article about compromised ethics and how people dealt with them, or not. Its a great article titled “The Uh-Oh Feeling“, Scary Work Scenario #3, by Susie Welch.

We’ve all been in situations where our ethics wall has been bumped up against, or have witnessed things that mades us uncomfortable (although probably not in a huge take down the company if you tell situation).   Ms. Welch explains how sometimes there is underlying information not available to us about the situation and we jump to conclusions on half facts.  

Raising hand — guilty as charged.

Here’s my question to you:

What would force you to report a co-worker or leave a job due to perceived, or factual, unethical behavior?  If you need some suggestions, let’s use someone padding an expense account (taken from Ms. Welch’s article).  Is that something you would report to your boss?

And no … I’m not witnessing anything unethical at my job, its just the article sparked my thought process because I have had problems with other jobs in the past.
