I’m a science fiction fan from way back. Not pure Scifi mind you, there are some things I just won’t watch, but Star Trek, Battlestar, Farscape, Babylon 5 and Stargate are just a few that I enjoy. I know, there are Star Wars fans out there that claim it is the only true SciFi space movie, but I beg to differ; just not here.
I was watching Highlander: The Source and saw a preview for the series coming to SciFi in December called “Tin Man“. Based on The Wizard of Oz the show is brought forward to the future a few years, and it appears some poetic license has also been taken.
Tin Man is the SCI FI Channel’s twist on L. Frank Baum’s classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a six-hour miniseries slated for a December 2007 premiere.
A sometimes psychedelic, often twisted, and always outrageous take on the book, SCI FI’s Tin Man is the epic tale of DG (Zooey Deschanel), a young woman plucked from her humdrum life and thrust into The Outer Zone (the O.Z.), a fantastical realm rife with wonder, but oppressed by dark magic. In the adventure of a lifetime, DG discovers her true identity, battles evil winged-monkey-bats, and attempts to fulfill her destiny. Her perilous journey begins on the fabled Old Road that leads to a wizard known as the Mystic Man (Richard Dreyfuss).
BTW, the Highlander movie I watched? Sucked.

It wasn’t anywhere near that good. I wish they hadn’t even tried.

I agree, it was a waste of money. They lost me right after Joe was killed …. snoozefest.
