Charges Dropped Against Chapmans’

by Jo | August 2nd, 2007

In 2003, while on trial for rape, Andrew Luster proved explicitly that he was not a man and fled to Mexico to avoid his trial and subsequent conviction.  He was convicted in absentia of 86 charges against him and sentenced to 124 years in prison.

Bounty Hunter, Duane “Dog” Chapman, with his son and brother(?), went to Mexico after receiving tips through his website, to get this monster.

Now anyone that has watched the show on A&E knows that Dog, like any good-red blooded male with wife and daughters, is not going to stand by and let a creep like Luster get away with his crimes if he can do something about it.  Unfortunately for Dog, Leland & Tim, the Mexican authorities enforce their laws better than the US does, and they were arrested for violating the “no-bounty hunting” law there.  (Too bad they only enforce laws that make them feel good).

But, from this article at CourtTV.com, the US authorities had some pretty serious egg on their faces and didn’t care much that a lowly bounty-hunter, and ex-felon at that, did their job!

But while Chapman may have been responsible for Luster’s eventual return to the U.S., authorities appeared unimpressed with the vigilante’s efforts.

Law enforcement officials bristled at the mention of Chapman in a press conference late Wednesday, chastising him for going too far, and signaling that they would not help the bounty hunter dodge potential kidnapping charges.

I think his actions are just beyond the bounds that I can condone,” said Ralph Boelter, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Ventura office.  “He’s out there acting on his own … Certainly it is not something the FBI would condone. We will not be acting on his behalf.”

This explains why the US law enforcement community “supported” the charges from Mexico against the three I believe. They executed an arrest warrant for the Mexican Government, and put Dog, Tim & Leland in jail.

Released on bond with tracking devices, the three filed appeals through their attorney’s to Mexico for the charges to be dropped.

Last night, word came down that a Judge in Mexico has ruled the statute of limitations has run out on the charges and they will be dropped against the Chapman’s.

I cheered when I heard the word via Fox News on the way home last night.

Now if we can just get Ramos and Compean released from jail, the world will start to right itself hopefully.

US Authorities backing-up and assisting Mexican authorites “against” one of its own citizens makes my stomach turn.  For all the Mexican citizens that violate our laws, and get away with it, we shouldn’t even have lifted a finger to help them against the Chapmans.

Thank You God!

  1. I can’t believe this stuff is happening. It’s become very clear over time that our DOJ is bending to the pressure applied from the Mexican government.

Which shouldn’t have even a cold chance in hell of influencing what we do here….

  2. This had to be directed from further up the chain.
