- Jo’s Note: Being a geek and loving everything “internet” I can see where this would benefit many people. You can graph out your trends etc, and for those of us that don’t keep a log of our testing, it replaces it. I can get to the site with my Blackberry with ease, so those on the go with handhelds might like this. My biggest problem would be remembering to post the readings.

Home Blood Sugar Monitoring Questioned
Home monitoring of blood sugar levels may not be as essential to the effective care of type 2 diabetes as previously thought, a new British study suggests.
The researchers found that having patients monitor their own glucose levels at home had no effect on their overall blood sugar levels. The findings do not apply to type 2 diabetics who must take insulin. Source
- Jo’s Note: Further down in the article is this “Moreover, half of the people who had been given glucose monitors stopped using them before the end of the study, Farmer said.” I understand completely. I was told by my doctor initially to test twice a day. I found that when I got home from work and tested, and my readings were elevated – I went into a fit of depression and started either a) starving myself or b) overeating. After I went on inslun, I stopped checking when I got home from work. The psychological effects were amazing. So I only test once a day regularly, unless there is an issue.
