Blame it on the Moon

Why is it so hard in this country to accept responsibility for your own actions?

Company Hired Illegal Immigrants to Keep Up With Military Contracts, Feds Say

BOSTON (AP) — The owner and three managers of a New Bedford leather manufacturer that’s won more than $91 million in U.S. military contracts were arrested Tuesday for allegedly hiring illegal immigrants.

The company, Michael Bianco Inc., hired illegal aliens as it tried to meet deadlines to supply backpacks and other products to the military, federal officials said in a court filing. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers raided the company Tuesday morning.

Whaaa whaaa … “its the military’s fault” … whaaa whaaa … “there aren’t enough people in America to do the jobs” … whaaa whaaa.

From their Website:

Established in 1985 in the state of Massachusetts the company has manufactured quality products for famous brand name companies such as Coach, Fossil, G.H. Bass, Mark Cross, Rockport, and Timberland to name a few. Michael Bianco produces a large variety of products, from handbags to travel bags, back packs, business cases, travel and business accessories and accessories for golf lovers.

In addition to our big customers, we enjoy working with smaller companies that need domestic production. We employ a full time designer as well as a full time pattern maker who will help, if needed, develop your new line of leather goods.

Then after a further search on the net, the deal with the military was to the tune of $36.1 million. That’s some major bucks for any company, small or large.

According to a U.S. Department of Defense release, Michael Bianco’s contract to make modular, lightweight load-carrying equipment for the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia runs through August 2006.  Source

I personally think its great that the military is giving American companies contracts; but these idiots are going to blame the very people that gave him business for breaking the law.

How about next time blame it on the moon? That would make about as much sense as what you’ve done. I think these people are using the growing hatred of the war in Iraq and the Bush administration, they are using anything that touchs it, ie: the military, as an excuse for everything.

Be men — stand up and take your lumps. Geez

I couldn’t agree with you more on this issue. People do not want to step up to the plate and take responsibilty for their own actions. And for the amount of money they were making off that contract you can;t tell me they couldn’t have hired Americans. Especially where the company is located in a town that has lots of very poor people looking for work, I know because I live in Massachusetts.
