I agree with that person above. You're not watching real news. Doesn't matter your position, political background or preference, etc. That channel does not now nor ever did have real news. It's opinions and partisan propaganda fed to you to make you think you're getting the true story. You're not. If you were you would get actual journalism, and actual journalism is not supposed to have any opinion in it at all, just facts. If you hear something like "fair and balanced" enough times you start to believe it; don't. Go find real facts about your favorite news story or candidate and stop feeding that excuse for a channel any more ratings.

I would argue that you're not a news junkie if you get your news from Hannity, Rush, Fox News and blogs. You're what marketing departments classify a media consumer. You watch and listen to shows specifically designed for literally fact-free light entertainment for people with certain ideologies with the delusion you're doing your duty and informing yourself. Having a political viewpoint, one way or the other, doesn't excuse this (and plenty of left leaners are guilty of this as well) - if you're a news junkie I'm a sociologist because I watch sitcoms.

Learn to handle things being reported that make you feel uncomfortable and maybe you won't feel so emotionally attached to political issues it is clear you know nothing about. It's clear to me, for example, from your words about health care that you have not expended a single calorie of energy to read even one published word about what has been proposed. You're scared of an illusion... a sad place to be.

Yanno....I can completely relate and understand - I've stepped away from my news a bit as well. Which is why I've been blogging on mindless dribble such as American Idol. But for the moment my brain hurts a little less, and I get to watch really, really bad singing. :-)

Its the constent drone of Bush Bashing and negativity that is getting to me. And frankly I don't want to hear Billary sign the national anthem of a country she hates so much. I am keeping up with the news, just not in the overloaded manner I was Saturday. Because hubby time is more important right now!

Plus, I need to start posting more about things I love, ie: TV shows other than just "24".

I felt the same way prior to the 2006 elections. I took a good 9 months off from reading political blogs and tuning into FOX every evening.

I am back to reading some blogs now and occasionally check out the news, but it is all just too much. The level of hate for this president is so off the charts ridiculous that it is overwhelming at times. My question for all of these twits is where is their hatred for the terrorists? How is it that GWB replaced them as the greatest of all evils? It is mind boggling.

I was adding all of my old blog posts back in over the weekend, and found all of the ones during the 2004 election...and I remember distinctly thinking my head was going to pop off from all the news and all the insanity and how it just drove me batty at the time.

So, I get what you're saying. If you really want some insanity, check out the lame reality shows on MTV...same idiocy, different generation.

Hello: You are so 'right on' Same O! Same O! Just too much negative negativity. Cartoons are good though, kind of! I like the way you write (right) with just a gentle hint of sarcasm but with a smile. But you must eventually return to what you do best, huh?! Right write. mc
