Pulling this out of my trackbacks from Jack Army, who is currently deployed into Iraq.
He tells of a conversation he’s recently had with an Iraqi Army Major in regard to the conditions in country and the future of Iraq.
Towards the end of today’s political discussion, my favorite Iraqi major asks my boss, “would you let a taxi driver fly an airplane?”
“Of course not,” is the answer.
“Iraq is in the same position. We are not ready to fly, yet.”
We cannot “cut ‘n run”. We must help this people learn to fly.
