Phenix City man gets 7 years for sexual abuse

A Phenix City man was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old boy.

Arzander Hinton, 29, received the seven-year sentence Tuesday before Russell County Circuit Court Judge George Greene. He entered the plea in March, said Assistant District Attorney Max Smith.

“He sexually abused a 12-year-old boy,” Smith said. “He’s already been convicted of doing this stuff before.”

Hinton inappropriately touched the boy while both were at his 802-A Sixth Place South address in August. The child eventually told his mother when she noticed he was acting differently.

Smith and Hinton’s attorney agreed to the seven-year sentence, Smith said. If the case had gone to trial, the boy would have had to testify about the offense, he said.

“These cases are always tough,” Smith said.

This is his SECOND offense and he only gets 7 years? He only got 4 years from the first offense. What the hell is wrong with our judicial system!!!! This man has proven he’s a preditor .. he needs to be UNDER THE FRACKIN’ JAIL!

Hinton could have received two to 20 years for the offense because it was his second. He received four years for first-degree sexual abuse in January 2004 after he pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching an 8-year-old girl in October 1999.
