Commercials

by Jo | June 22nd, 2006

I watch a lot of television.  When the SGM is not around, I usually just lay here and watch more television than I thought possible.  Yes, I’m a channel flipper.

The TV is on whenever I’m home, except when asleep.  Either I’m actually watching, or catching it as I do my household chores.

But there is one thing that can force me to stop whatever I’m doing and dive for the remote like a drowning man going for a life vest.

Commercials supported with the musical score using RAP.

Why in god’s name do advertisers believe that the majority of the country like this music?  As soon as the crap starts, my ears start twitching and my eyes start looking for the remote.  If in my haste I can’t get the thumb to hit the MUTE button, I will force it to another channel.

There is no reason to supplement your product push with the worst form of “music” (said tongue planted firmly in cheek) on the planet.

Do you really think this abuse of my ears is going to have me dropping the laundry basket and flying to my car to drive madly to the store and buy the stuff your pushing?  Trust me on this - I don’t care if your product is the only thing available to use - I won’t buy it.

Give it up — not all people in this country believe that RAP music is the be-all end-all out there.  The majority of RAPPERS promote murder, rape, cop killing, and lord knows what else — so why would you use such to promote your product?

And as we all know — we can’t spell CRAP without the RAP.

  1. The sad part is…if it weren’t for the messages they are promoting IN and BEHIND rap music, it wouldn’t be so bad.
