For months we have heard nothing but constant complaints about “The Da Vinci Code”. The National Geographic Channel has hours and hours of shows on “debunking” the book, or “supporting his theories”, and the History channel is doing the same thing. Then let’s not go to the religious channels — I ran across Jim Baker, formally of PTL Fame, complaining about the book one night too.
I read, and suggest you do to, Blogging Man 2007, and this post was up on the RSS feed today.
The Da Vinci Codemakes a mockery of Jesus Christ suggesting that He and Mary Magdalene married and had children whose line exists today, but a secret society conspired to keep it secret. This assertion in the book and the film (starring Tom Hanks, directed by Ron Howard) has Christians like myself, upset.
I can’t post comments over there due to not having a sign in, which is fine — I have too many to keep up with anyway.
Listen People!!
IT - IS - JUST - A - BOOK - OF - FICTION
Where is the uproar with hours and hours of TV documentaries against Madonna because of her latest stunt? They are not out there and there never will be. The people against Mr. Brown’s “work of fiction” would love to see the man stoned, but they will turn a blind eye to Madonna — hypocrites.
Stop your damn bitching for one minute and think ….
How many people are going to turn back to God because of this book / movie?
How many are going to go to the Bible for answers?
Sometimes God will give us tools we don’t recognize; it’s how we chose to use them that counts.
Remember the joke about the guy sitting on the roof of his house during a flood begging God to save him? Three people came by with boats, but the guy turned them away — waiting on God. When he was about to drown, he asked God why he didn’t save him, God responded, “I sent you three boats.”

I think part of the problem comes from that there are SOME facts in the book mixed in with the fiction. For instance, Emperor Constantine merging pagan holidays with Christanity is fact, but the Priroy of Sion stuff is fiction. Mixing the Knights Templar, which did exist, in with the Priory blurs the line even more. People, like Jim Baker, assume that your common person isn’t smart enough to figure this stuff out, so they just blast the whole thing.

I couldn’t agree more. I’m sick of hearing about it and if someone’s religion is going to crumble because of a story, it doesn’t have a good foundation.
Sigh ….
