Changes …

by Jo | April 26th, 2006

Last year we had some major changes at my place of employment; which brought on a lot of complaining from my co-workers.   Fortunately, a lot of what was being complained about worked itself out — so we thought.

We are changing again and this time we haven’t been given ANY TIME to complain.  We will be jumping through some major hoops in the next 72 work hours because on Sunday night I become an ex-employee of one company and a new employee of another.

Oh sure, we knew it was coming, just didn’t know it was going to be like this.  Evidently the lawyers got in gear and moved everything up. Papers will be signed and a press-release done and wham bam, Tre and I will no longer be co-workers, but back to just being best buds

Like everyone else, how is this going to affect me is at the top most part of my brain.  I was given an opportunity by the current boss to grow and learn and take on more responsibilities than someone else with my title and position.  Will my job now be reduced back to what is was before?  How do you go backwards once you’ve been given the push to move forward, and did it well?

I am fortunate in many areas of the changes.  My health insurance provider will remain the same, as will my physician.  There are two pay-checks coming into my house, so the switch from twice monthly pay checks to every other week won’t throw our budget into chaos.  Our vacation time will be diminished from what we currently have and there is no matching 401(k).  We will get what is in our 401(k) now to invest as we see fit.

But — I kept reminding people yesterday of the main point:

We. Still. Have. Jobs
