I Am ANGRY.

by Trelaina | March 24th, 2006

I am fed up…angry….livid!

I can no longer stand these bloggers who feel the need to be the first to start the blogstorm, the first to lead the charge, the one who was right. Facts? Who the hell needs facts? The charge is what matters, and the fact that I end up the star when the game is over.

Liberal, left-wing blogs? I wish.

I’m talking about these so-called-conservatives with stars in their eyes and a line to a base desperate for action. These people who throw out the term moonbat when it suits them and then act just like them.

The left won a battle today. They are charged up and ready for more….and none of us are safe now. A number of “conservatives” contributed to that win.

One of them is now off my blogroll. If I run across other blogs that did the same, I’ll remove them too.

Do I care about the charges levelled? Of course I do. The problem is that it NO LONGER MATTERS. The charges are now true by default. Why? Because people chose to accuse before all the evidence was presented. Because certain people wanted to be the PowerLine of this issue — the one who got the knife in first. The one who “stood up for principle” even if the nature of that principle hasn’t even been fully defined yet.

All members of the political alternative media will pay for this day. We got our knuckles smacked for the Dubai ports deal. This is a target painted on our collective chests.

I pray that those of you who may find themselves in the crosshairs had goof-free childhoods.

  1. Hi ! Kid as a friendly tip take off the pogo gifs or make sure your pogo name isnt on your blog. I had some minis on my blog with my pogo name and pogo cancelled my sub saying it was a mass copyright break. Liked your blog!!

  2. You’re upset because some of your fellow conservatives have integrity.

Ben Domenech is a liar, a whiner, and a plagiarist. He is a fraud and a thief.

And his defenders are either unprincipled liars or over-emotionalistic nitwits.

The ‘left’ won because your boy Ben is without a shred of personal integrity. Choose better representatives, and stop wasting your time defending the indefensible.

  3. You’ve missed the whole point of my post. Maybe you should read it again.

  4. You would prefer that people deny the obvious–that Domenech is a liar and a plagiarist?

Domenech was committing plagiarism on a MASSIVE scale at the National Review Online.

Those who denounced him were right, and those who are defending him are absurdly wrong.

He’s no martyr–just a thief who got caught.

  5. You are, again, missing the point.

I am not defending anyone. The evidence is there. I understand that many have looked at it and find it convincing. I understand that some have legitimately denounced him. Believe me, I have read a LOT of diaries and comments on RedState.

My complaint is with those who stepped on a fellow conservative in the pursuit of “lead blogger on the right” status.

If that doesn’t make sense to you, you’re missing the point. Go argue who Ben Domenech “is” somewhere else.

  6. Geek — reread her post. She’s not defending this person, she’s angry at how conservatives treated him. We are suppose to be so above the intolerent liberals, yet some of the stuff I saw was worse than the DU.

BTW 5 examples is NOT massive in my book.

  7. I’m not sure who you are referring to, but I do understand your frustration. I felt exactly the same way with the Ports deal and waited to post about it until the dust had settled and the facts were more clear. I disagree with many like-minded people on that issue, but no matter where we all stand, I thought there was a rush to judgment in order to get ahead of the story, and it was a disservice.

I’ve seen, on a couple of occasions, the rush to judgement in the blogosphere, followed by apologies later. I understand the desire to get a post up, I’ve been there too, but on these stories that don’t quite feel right initially, waiting for the fog to clear before commenting would be a better approach. Having to go back and say “I was wrong” isn’t optimal reporting, or in this case, blogging.

I’m not addressing the Domenech story particularly, I really haven’t followed it that closely, but more the point that because the blogosphere is so fast and competitive, it does seem that sometimes, in a rush to get the story out quickly, the full picture is often left victim to the first post. That is exactly the same complaint registered against the MSM by many bloggers, including myself.

As for Domenech, if he plagerized, it’s unacceptable, unprofessional and he should pay the consequences. However, this business about his family being threatened is beyond the pale.

I’m just wondering how the mainstream media can get such big, consequential stories, like the Quran-flushing story, wrong. People died as a result of it and our troops were put at even more risk, yet the left largely shrugged their shoulders. Oops. But in this case, assuming Domenech is guilty, it’s huge news. As usual, there is no proper sense of perspective, and that’s a shame.

  8. Ditto.

I felt the same way and the same way about the ports. There weren’t enough facts - just mass hysteria.

In this case, all I’ve seen are accusations - I haven’t seen any facts. But then I got disgusted and quit reading it - so I could very well have missed something.

Another thing that bothered me is that I’ve seen a number of people write that he needs to prove his innocense. I thought in our justice system the burden of proof was on the accuser….

    But maybe that’s just me…

  9. And I’m noting that there were two groups of conservative/Republican bloggers:

    1) Those who applied independent thinking and moral reasoning, and leveled criticism against Domenech; and

    2) Those who think it’s wrong for conservatives to criticize immoral and unethical behavior in other conservatives.

The evidence was overwhelming and undeniable, the willful blindness of group #2 notwithstanding. The people in group 1 didn’t let their emotions prevent them from seeing the obvious.
