Movie theaters may ask to jam cell phones

I can relate to the reasons why they would want to do this; trust me.

The National Association of Theatre Owners is considering asking the Federal Communications Commission to lift the ban on jamming cell phones in movie theatres. Faced with falling attendances at the movie theatres, owners are looking to remove the menace of cell phones going off in the middle of a movie.

There have been many times we’ve gone to the movies and been interrupted by some idiot that can’t figure how to set their phone on vibrate.

BUT – the SGM has to be able to be found 24/7; and that means even if we go to the movies. The more menance we’ve found at the theater are the people that can’t keep their mouths shut when the movie is on. Talking, laughing, giggling, etc. causes more problems for me than someone’s phone ringing.

It all boils down to manners really. Those with manners put their phones on vibrate, shut their yaps when the movies starts and don’t traipse back and forth to the bathroom 100 times. If you can’t watch a movie without having to pee every 15 minutes, stop drinking the XXL drink and get to the doctor; you’ve got a problem.

I wholeheartedly agree. We’ve been to movies where cell phones were ringing or playing any manner of noise, people laughing and talking like they were at some urban picnic and some let their younguns run the ailes screaming and making a racket.

Theater admission is not cheap and I, for one, would appreciate being able to enjoy the flick and get my money’s worth without a bunch of uncultured hooligans ruining the moment.

Great post… hope others read it and pass it along.

I agree but that’s why I rent movies and watch them at home. However, I will occasionally go to the theatre.
