Gaj, you have your opinions, obviously liberal leaning in nature, and I have mine.

Isn't it a great country we live in where we still have the freedoms to do that?

I think there was probably no reason to give this woman the attention she got as a result of the eviction. Whether or not her behavior was worthy of that eviction is debatable but what is appallingly obvious is that the press is giving her exactly what she wanted…

To wit: Cindy Sheehan is now the story…

You are right on with this post Jo. I was embarassed for them when I watched the SOTU. They come across as bitter and hate-filled. They also come across as though they are putting their own self-interest above what is best for the country.

To gaj - the argument you are making is the same tired argument that uber-libs have been making since Bush won office. Vaguaries. Nothing concrete. Anything he does is wrong.

If he weren't being proactive in dealing with terrorist, he'd be critized for that. He was blamed for 9/11 - remember. Eventhough the previous administration had 8 years to deal with terrorism and had either ignored or weakly responded to previous terrorists attacks, emboldening our enemies.

I'm grateful we have a strong leader. I don't agree with everything he does. I would prefer more military rather than less. I think he's pandered to the left too much by trying to bring the left back into the fold (they obviously don't want to work together - so that's a wasted effort.

But all in all - he's the right man at the right time. We need leadership and strength right now. Not someone who uses charm, smoke and mirrors to be popular.

I think you guys have taken my "taking liberties" statement a tad too literally. I did not mean that Bush had taken liberties from me, personally-at least not yet! I meant that he had taken liberties with his office that he should not be taken. He used the power he "thought" he had to nominate, as Supreme Court Justice, a woman who had not one day of experience on the bench. Luckily, even the Republicans questioned that one.

He has used his office to authorize wire taps without legal authorization, which, by the way, could take away my liberties, and which has most definitely taken liberties away from some American citizens already.

He took away the right of the citizens to know why they are going to war, by providing us with false and misleading information.

He is seeking to take away a basic fundamental right from some citizens by taking away their right to marry the person of their choice.

I have heard recently that the military, of which he is Commander-in-Chief, has broken the contracts which members had, by forcing them to remain even after their terms of service have expired.

These are only a few of the things which have been happening.

Amy,

You CAN diss the man and not his office. I can greatly respect the office of President, but not like or respect the man who holds it at any given time. As I believe many people did with Bill Clinton and others who have held the office.

If I love my country, it is not only my right, but my duty, to question how it is being run.

Last I checked, all my liberties were properly in place, thank you :)

The left proclaims it as another of the fine list of KnownFacts....but it's nothing of the kind.

" has taken so many liberties that I no longer have any faith or respect in him or in the Republicans who blindly follow and support him."

Please, list a few of these "liberties" that you no longer have. Please. I'll check back later to see which ones he's taken.

So... then.... if we did what they did to, say, Bill Clinton, Democrats wouldn't have cried "They're disrespecting the very office of the presidency!"? Of course they would.

You cannot diss the Pres and not hte office. This man HOLDS this office. He is doing nothing worthy of being disrespected. Liberals just hate that a decent, honest, moral man won back to back elections. That burns you guys up. Too bad. We suffered under 8 years of Clinton and Republicans dealt with it.

I don't know what liberties you've had taken away by the President -- but I haven't lost any. I don't blindly follow him either. I do not care for the way he handles the border for one thing.

I'm not a member of your "looney left." I am a long-time independent, who has looked at the opinions and records of each candidate and voted either Republican, Democrat or Independent-as I determined who I felt was the right person for the job. However, this administration long ago lost any admiration I had for them. And I was extremely proud of how President Bush handled the country immediately following 9/11. Since then, however, he has gone so far afield and has taken so many liberties that I no longer have any faith or respect in him or in the Republicans who blindly follow and support him.
