Wow!
OMG!
Oh no
That’s about all I said for the first 15 minutes of the first 2 hours of “24” last night.
First we have President Palmer getting shot in the neck, in front of his brother, Wayne.
Tony and Michelle argue about getting a hold of CTU to help with the investigation, and Michelle leaves out of the house for the car. The car blows up, Tony goes after her and while he’s cradling her in his arms, there is a secondary explosion from the car - Michelle is dead and Tony is in serious condition.
Chloe is heading into work and gets a call from Edgar about Palmer, Michelle and Tony, and when Edgar tells her about the car explosion, she’s about to put her key in her car door and stops. As she looks around, she sees two not so nice guys watching her. She takes off running and ends up loosing them.
Meanwhile, back at Dead Jack/Frank’s place — he’s having a nice sit down family breakfast with a snot-nosed kid and his mom. His cell rings, it’s Chloe — and all hell breaks loose from there.
Jack/Frank moves into CTU Agent mode and tells Chloe where to meet him and runs off to steal a helicopter. But oops — snot-nosed kid follows him and alas, Jack has to take him along. Enroute to LA, Jack/Frank calls snot-nosed kid’s mom and tells her to come get him.
Back at the ranch - CTU, word comes down that Chloe is not where she’s suppose to be and the evidence about the President’s shooter comes through — it’s Jack.
President Weak Logan is having some meeting with the Russian president and even though his security detail and CTU tell him to put it off, he throws a temper tantrum and says no. Pan to his nutso wife getting her hair done and then dunking her head into the water-filled sink. Cue the music from One Flew Over the Coo-Coo’s nest. She insists that President Palmer called her and told her there was something he had to tell her that involved national security. Of course she is the only one that believes this.
Jack/Frank and snot-nosed kid land at an abandoned refinery and Chloe comes running around some equipment — but the bad guys are there too and Jack/Frank can’t get the helicopter warmed up enough to take off. He throws smoke grenades, hands Chloe a gun and tells her to take snot-nosed kid and hide. Jack/Frank takes down one guy with a knife and shoots another bad guy driving a car.
Chloe and snot-nosed kid are hiding but the main bad guy finds them and sweeps around to take them out. But our hero Jack/Frank comes in and shoots him in the knee and Chloe proceeds to fill his belly with lead. NO !!! He has to talk!!! We find out from the main bad guy Jack/Frank was set up as having killed President Palmer. Why? Of course they’re not going to tell us DUH! Jack plants a lead present in the main bad guys brain — I mean, he did kill the president already.
We must find out who’s setting up Jack/Frank so into the main bad guys van and off to the complex where the President was living. They get through on Chloe’s credentials and get set up in the garage. Jack/Frank “borrows” an FBI jacket, credentials and heads up to the Penthouse floor. He gets in without ANYONE seeing him and finds President Palmer’s study where he was working on his book. He gets into Palmer’s computer and find an encrypted file and Chloe does her magic.
Back at CTU, Chloe’s one-night stand can’t get in the computer and Edgar gives him her password. Ooops, can’t sign in if you’re already signed on. Edgar tells Bill the Big Guy and they end up shutting down Chloe’s eyes in the building. She can’t tell where all the Secret Service people are now — Jack/Frank is flying blind.
In Palmer’s Study, Wayne comes in and finds Jack. He’s angry, grieving, but understands that Jack/Frank wouldn’t be there if he killed Palmer — and finally helps him find out what Palmer had encrypted in the first paragraph of his book. It’s a name and address and Chloe finds out it’s the name of the baggage supervisor at an airport.
Jack/Frank manages to get out of the penthouse after Chloe warns him she’s blind, with only having to take out one other FBI agent and they are sitting in the van in the garage when the Secret Service comes looking for them. Jack/Frank and snot-nosed kid sneak out of the garage while Chloe distracts the agents and drives out into a trap. She’s handcuffed and then told to talk to CTU Boss Bill the Big Man — she won’t give up Jack/Frank’s location, but does tell him that Jack/Frank was set up.
Jack/Frank steal a car and drive to the airport. He calls snot-nosed kid’s mom and tells her where to meet them at the airport. They get to the airport, snot-nosed kid hugs mom and then Jack/Frank tells her that he’s not Frank, hands her the address to CTU and leaves for the airport terminal.
Jack asks where the baggage supervisor is and heads down this long ass hallway. Meanwhile — snot-nosed kid and mom are leaving the airport and while stopped for pedestrian traffic, he sees bad guys with gun bags get out of the back of a panel van. Snot-nosed kid has to warn Jack and runs inside leaving freaked out mom by herself.
Jack finds the baggage supervisor and demands to know who killed Palmer, while the bad guys take over the terminal with mucho gun fire. Jack is distracted by the gun fire and the baggage supervisor eats a cyanide tablet and jets off to la la land.
Great 2 hours —
Can’t wait for tonight –
Going to be another jam pack fun filled season!
Woohoo!
Oh yeah, I left some stuff out — (shrug) have to watch!

What a wild ride it was! Good summary. Thankfully my wife has no Monday evening classes to teach for the next few weeks, so we’ll be able to watch it in real time…
