Schools Out

by Jo | December 23rd, 2005

I was reminded yesterday that school was out while trying to get through the grocery store at lunch and having to not only fight the normal noon-hour purchasers, but those that were starting their food shopping for Christmas.

What got on my last nerve - and Tre can verify this - was the fact that parents brought their children with them and then just cut them loose in the store like it was a giant playground.

Hello? Give your kids something to do in the store other than running around playing tag in the produce section. That grandmother they ran into 3 or 4 times while I was watching would probably appreciate the fact your kids weren’t bruising her. Oh, and teach them how to say “Excuse me too” — I didn’t hear it once out of their mouths. As for you mom — your ignorance as to what they were doing proved the need for licenses to give birth.

Okay — so you can’t take Little Johnny and Suzie to someones house while you run the errands … can you at least make them mind on the first No? You sound like a bird that learned one word and you repeated it so many times it was making me dizzy. Tell them no, take the crap out of their hands and move on. Please don’t block the isle with your buggy and three brats staring at you and whining while all you can do is stare back like a deer in headlights saying No - No - No. You will save many shoppers’ heads from exploding.

And must I remind you that children use to be raised to be seen and not heard? That means the screeching your banshee is doing from the front of the store to the meat department is probably in violation of some noise ordinance, but no one can call the law and check it out because they are stunned into mummies from the noise. Sock - insert - quiet. If you can’t do that, please turn back around and go out the door.

And if you can safely, print out some mazes from here and leave them in the car, windows cracked, and save the rest of us a few brains cells.
