Survivor: Guatemala 12/11/05 FINALE

by Jo | December 12th, 2005

The season finale starts 22 minutes late due to some sports game I’m sure … but finally we get to hear Jeff’s voice. He recaps the whole show up to last weeks Tribal Council.

4 Remain –
Who will be crowned sole survivor and win $1,000,000?

Day 37 - Morning - Lydia wakes up with a smile on her face. She wonders to the camera why she is there, is it her destiny to be in the Final 4. They all gather around the fire and toast to being the final 4. Rafe is happy. Clue Rafe — you all are happy.

Tree mail

Lydia comes running all excited about the tree mail. As the other three rush to her, they are expecting food or something, but alas their hopes are dashed. Lydia says there is going to be a ceremony, or celebration, but the rest of them don’t get the clue like Lydia did. Folks — remember her heritage now. Sure enough, Lydia was right.

They are all sitting around camp when a Mayan family comes through the forest carrying baskets and burning incense. They make a circle in front of one of the temples and start a ritual. The Final 4 look on while the people kill a chicken to the gods. Steph asks Lydia to find out if they can eat the chicken and got a resounding “NO”. They family did share a drink with the Final 4.

Off to the 2nd to last immunity challenge.

There is a Mayan maze in the shape of a macaw bird - it is very beautiful from the air believe me if you missed it, it was amazing. The goal is to find 8 pieces to a puzzle in the maze. There are 6 stations within the maze. Find your matching color pieces, go to the center of the maze, cross over a water feature on small pontoons, up a ladder and put your pieces on the matching table. Go back down a rope ladder out into the maze to find the rest of your pieces. When all pieces are found, put the puzzle together to find 4 Mayan animal symbols.

Rafe wins immunity for the 4th time.

Back at came they discuss the immunity challenge. Rafe is going to the Final 3. Steph and Rafe talk - she wants to go to the Final 2 with him - oh but Steph, he’s promised Danni! Steph then talks about voting Lydia out, but then switches to Danni. Girlfriend make up your mind. Danni is uneasy about it all, even though Rafe has made her a promise.

The 4 talk about eating the Chicken that was left over from the ritual. Steph and Lydia go to the bottom of the Temple and find the remains of the sacrificed chicken — cooked to perfection. Lydia and Steph bring the chicken back to camp. Rafe won’t eat it because he feels it is a violation of the Mayan people’s ritual. Steph, Danni and Lydia chow down.

What happens next? Maybe they should have listen to ol’ Rafe because the skies open up on them. They say it is the worst rain storm they’ve had the whole time they were there. They wonder if they need to say a prayer for eating the chicken.

Tribal Council

The jury comes in. Jeff and the Final 4 talk about the ritual and the history of the Mayan people. Then Jeff mentions the rain and they confess to eating the chicken, all except Rafe that is.

Lydia says she believes she doesn’t pose a threat.
Danni says Lydia is a threat.
Steph says yes, but so is Danni.

Vote: Danni, Lydia, Lydia, Lydia

Lydia is the 15th member voted off and goes to the jury. Instead of acting like an ass like Judd, she hugs everyone and wishes them well.

Back at camp — it rains again. I’m telling you guys, don’t mess with a ritual!

Day 38 - The fire is out (duh, rain does that to fire) and the howler monkey’s are in rare form. I’m telling you, don’t mess with mother nature and her chicken.

Tree mail. Honor those that have gone before. Each previous tribe member’s picture is attached to a pole with a small fire cauldron beside it. They are placed around the camp on the temples. The Final 3 are to go to each pole, in the order the people were voted off and reflect on them and talk about their memories of the person. Then they are to remove the picture and burn it.

After they are done with the honoring of the former members, they move off to the next immunity challenge.

This challenge is going to take balance and concentration. Stand on a wobbly platform that is on top of a small ball bearing attached to it. There are two ropes that you can hold on to for the first hour, then after 30 more minutes, you have to let go of the second rope. Last person standing — wins immunity and guaranteed to be in the Final 2.

After the first hour they all let go of their ropes and ooops — balance goes off and they each end up leaning up against the main support pole with their feet on the platform. 30 minutes pass and they let go of the last rope.

Rafe is knocked out when he touches the support poles with his hands for balance.

Two hours, 38 minutes. Steph is having problems, sliding down. Finally she can’t hold on anymore and slides to the ground and bursts out in tears.

Danni wins immunity and goes to the Final 2 guaranteed.

Rafe releases Danni from their agreement to take each other to the Final 2.

Back at camp, Danni is shocked to be where she is — in the Final 2. Rafe again tells Danni to vote for who she wants to — oh the pressure. Rafe says he feels good about letting Danni out of their agreement.

Steph and Danni talk. Danni says she doesn’t know what to do and Steph tells her to go with her heart.

It is hard to decide Danni says - but it is all about the money.

Tribal Council

I’m going to make this one simple. Rafe is the 16th person voted out. Danni takes Steph to the Final 2 with her. Rafe tells us in his final interview that Steph has his vote.

Day 39.

Steph and Danni wake up and talk about their last night in the jungle, then head off to the pool for a final swim and relaxation. Back at camp, Steph starts the fire and they burn the shelter. They are sacrificing their camp the Mayan gods.

Off to the last Tribal Council for Survivor: Guatemala

(From the couch hubby wants to know how Jeff is going to enter the studio with the votes this show).

In comes the Jury and Danni takes off the immunity necklace.

Opening statements are giving by Steph and Danni. Then there will be questions from the jury and a closing statement.

Bobby Jon: Are you proud how you played the game?
Gary: Why should I not vote for you tonight?
Jamie: To Danni: If you would have had numbers on your side, which 5 would you have taken to the top? (?) To Steph: How do you think the jury feels about your being friends with someone and talking to them the day you plan on voting them off?
Lydia: Why should I vote for you tonight?
Cindy: If you could remove one of the jury members, who would it be? Danni says Rafe and Steph says Bobby Jon.
Rafe: To Danni: Why did you change your mind about who you said you’d take to the Final 2:? To Steph: What was the best move you made you didn’t tell me?
Judd: (He is still an angry, ugly person. He’s spitting venom and making an ass out of himself more than any damage he may try and do to either one of these two) To Danni: Have you ever went ice skating or rollerblading? Because you skated this whole time. To Steph: Are you still starving? (Judd and Steph go back and forth with Steph doing the best she can to defend her actions, but Judd is acting like a two year old child. Temper Tantrum is all I can see here).

Everyone votes and we see a vote from Rafe for Steph and Judd for Danni (duh)

Jeff gathers the votes and tells them he will see them back in the states. He leaves in a helicopter and flies over the Mayan temples. Then we see him flying into Los Angeles and landing at the CBS studios.

The final votes are cast.

  1. I missed the preview of the next season…I flipped back over to Grey’s Anatomy after they announced Danni as the winner.

I would have liked to see Stephenie win…oh well.

  2. I don’t think either her or Bobby Jon had any hopes of winning .. but she is at least $100,000 richer for her actions.
