I know I know — it’s Sunday and all .. but it is my blog
Anyway — Otis is coming along fine, however, the people at Auburn are still stumped as to what the mass is. They had done 2 biopsies and then we were informed Thursday the 2nd one didn’t come back with anything. Okay folks — this is the 2nd time it’s come back inconclusive — and they want a 3rd biopsy. When I heard this it felt like someone had kicked me in the gut.
I just couldn’t put this ol’ man through this again. When we had picked him up Friday before last, he never really did bounce back from being under anesthesia and we had to rush him back to Auburn Sunday because of another nose bleed and his gums were almost white. His blood count turned out to be okay.
The doctor called me on doing the 3rd biopsy. This is the same doctor who saved Bubba’s life. I was concerned. We had a nice chat and I told her our concerns that at Otis’ age, he was not bouncing back as fast as Bubba did. She didn’t know this. Evidently there is a communication breakdown somewhere. I agreed to the 3rd - and last - biopsy.
When we went to get him Friday night (fighting the mad mad fans going to Auburn for the Iron Bowl), he was in much better spirits and himself. Doc took the information I had given her and adjusted his drugs and he was wagging his tail and his eyes were clear. This morning he’s out in the back yard patrolling the fence, rolling in the grass and acting like his old self.
His breathing has improved, yet he still has problems because the mass is not yet gone.
God thank you for this animal you have given us — our lives would be incomplete at best without him.

You know, people without dogs just don’t “get” the bond we have with our animals. They’re our babies. They give us so much love and so much devotion…it’s our duty to give all of that back to them.
I’m thinking positive thoughts about Otis…I guess no bad news is good news? That sounds trite I know but, I’m glad to hear he’s back in wagging form.

I know Stacy - I grew up on a farm surrounded by pets. I think animals are a way for god to remind us how to love. Otis went back to the vet last night for this week’s treatment of radiation, but gets only 2 because of the holiday.
