I had no idea the movie would be this popular. Well deserved, but we’re talking about a movie based on a show that got cancelled in its first season. I figured it would be attended by a narrow fan base then fall out of favor in two weeks time. Silly me.
Best thing about was that there were just fans in the theater. No problems with stupid people in a movie they didn’t really want to see. We all laughed when we should, clapped, cried and enjoyed. It was the best movie watching experience I’ve had in a theater in a long long time. Josh Joss should have put Firefly on SciFi from the get go — then maybe it wouldn’t have been cancelled. But remember, Star Trek was cancelled initially to in it’s first running — and look how far that went on a fan base alone.
It is Joss Whedon, not Josh. My daughter at the USC Film School and world class Buffy and Angel fanatic would have a cow reading anyone calling him Josh.
I am a big Firefly fan, too. SciFi has been broadcasting the Firefly series on Friday at 6 central time.
SciFi has been real funky in their scheduling of series. They dinked around with the Tremors series. Now I hear Michael Gross is selling his Tremors memorabilia on eBay. Too bad his .50 cal rifle he used in the series won’t be up for sale.

When we got home last night, we checked the box office numbers for yesterday and Serenity was at #2 behind the plane movie Jodie Foster did.
