Our city, county, state, and feds worked together like champs and we were as prepared as humanly possible. The mayor of Galveston did a great job for her community. Unfortunately there were 2 big fires there last night as the storm hit and the firefighters were true heroes. Texas learned many lessons from Katrina, plus Texans are a different breed, you know. I am not a native but still proud to live in Houston. Houston dodged the bullet and we are so very grateful.
