Where’s the Panic?

Thursday, 8 September 2005, 5:56

This speaks volumes, I think, to what some people think about their leaders:

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt that he was being prevented from acting by bureaucracy and the sheer magnitude of the situation. Where are the stories of how he was in his office freaking the f*** out because there were tens of thousands of Americans trapped without food and water? Where’s the story of how he ripped a strip off of somebody, demanding to know what the holy hell the holdup is getting water and food to those people?

So, it’s not concern unless it’s screaming, panicing concern? He doesn’t care unless he’s “ripping a strip off of somebody”?

They don’t like Bush because they can’t READ him. They don’t hear reports of him going off the deep end in his office, screaming at his staff….so something must be wrong with HIM.

George W. Bush is the President of the United States and respects the office. The President of the United States should set an example of calm, even if behind the scenes he is tearing out his hair and giving staff members a good dressing-down.

I personally wouldn’t respect my own manager if she acted in a panic over every little thing…I would think she was an idiot. I would think the same of my president.

Hm…maybe that’s it. He’s not matching up with their idiot profile, and that’s what is bugging them?

I almost left a comment on that site about what was said, but decided that getting my BP up this morning wasn’t a good thing. Not everyone shows emotions the same way, and just because Bush doesn’t break down in a sobbing fit when something happens doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. It’s too bad the people on that blog can’t see strength in calm.

It’s a matter of perception. Think about it: people say that FEMA was slow. Based on what evidence? People complain about Michael Brown, not because he’s done anything really stupid, but because he seems clueless. A day or two after the storm, the NYT was criticizing Bush because HE DIDN’T MAKE A GOOD SPEECH.

Maybe if he stuck his lower lip out, gently pounded the podium and said, “I feel your pain” the libs would be happier.
