Monsters in NO
I get up this morning and of course before moving too much, flip on the television and Fox News. What do I hear? Explosions in the Super Dome? Rapes in the Super Dome? Murders in the Super Dome?
And all I can think of is: What kind of monsters lived in New Orleans?
No, the best laid plans of the Mayor and FEMA couldn’t/didn’t foresee the events to come after Katrina went through, and I’m sure no one anticipated the massive human suffering — but raping? murdering?
Why should we bother to try and get these people out of there if this is how they act? Call me cold hearted, but you have people “shooting” at rescuers — that tells me the suckers don’t want to be rescued. So leave them.

…and the news media says they are shooting because “they are so desperate, it’s a way to say ‘get me out of here now’”. Maybe for some, I won’t deny that. Although I can say with confidence that no matter how desperate I am, I would not shoot at a helicopter, I cannot say what other things I might do. But for most, that’s not the case.
Unfortunately, when you have to evacuate everyone….you have to evacuate the lawless and the criminals too (at least until they reveal themselves). This is just a horrible, unreal situation.

IMHO, the MEDEVAC and rescue helicopters should be accompanied by an Apache. Some asshole shoots at helos, let loose with the miniguns, 2.75-inch rockets and Hellfire missiles.
Overkill, yeah. But grabs the rest of them by the short hairs and says you do it and there won’t be enough of you left to put in a crack pipe.
