Since we aren’t hearing shit out of the UN or the rest of the world that the US routinely gives to when they are suffering, I thought I’d find what information I could about relief efforts within the US. (Don’t hold your breath on Hollywood folks, they don’t give a rats ass)
NBA Players Launch Hurricane Relief
NEW YORK — The NBA players’ association said Tuesday it is launching an immediate effort to assist in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
“We are in the process of contacting every player in the league to solicit their support and ideas on how we can make a difference as quickly as possible,” said union president Antonio Davis of the Chicago Bulls.
The union will help deliver supplies to the hardest hit areas.
Dupont donates $1mn supporting Hurricane Katrina relief
Science company DuPont announced that it will donate $1 million in cash to agencies supporting Hurricane Katrina relief and recovery efforts in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. The company will focus its aid on particularly hard hit communities, such as those surrounding the DuPont DeLisle and Pascagoula sites, both in Mississippi.
Chevron Commits $5 Million to Support Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
SAN RAMON, Calif., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) today announced it is making a commitment of $5 million to support recovery efforts in the communities affected by Hurricane Katrina. This includes a $3 million contribution to the American Red Cross in support of disaster relief efforts in Louisiana, Mississippi and other affected areas following further analysis of the devastation. The remaining $2 million will go to local charities and relief efforts near Chevron businesses in affected states, as determined by the Company.
