Gas Prices

Here in the local area, $2.45 for regular at the Chevron on the corner – but $2.35 across the street at the BP.
What’s it doing in your area?
Come on guys — what’s so hard with hitting Comment and posting the State you live in and the gas prices?
1:00 pm – Just got back from the grocery store — the Chevron close by there is at $2.43 a gallon and the Spectrum is $2.47 !!!!

Right Voices has information on the crude prices from this year and last year, and how much they have changed. Yes Virginia, we did go to Iraq for oil (yeah right)

During the day on Friday, our gas prices went up from about $2.25 to about $2.45. Wow.

I think we probably get our gas from the same pumps… but in any event, it’s just getting wayyyy out of hand, lol!

Redoubt – we prebably do, since I think we live in the same general area.
Trelaina — did that here too. The CSM went to work Thursday morning, it was $2.09 at one place and by lunch had gone to $2.25, and was $2.35 Friday morning when he went in.

The prices are way out of hand. I’ve seen it over $2.50 in places. I’m hearing now that we are headed for the $3.00 mark.

I filled up on 8/11, 15.64 gallons @ $2.29. I remember when I could fill this size tank for $13.
This is price gauging, and I do wonder why we can’t (or don’t) do anything about it? Barrels are obtained from the same source for the same price, (aren’t they?) but in more populated areas, gas is outrageously expensive.

I agree Leanne!! Someone told me it was the “futures market” people that do this, that the gas itself might not even cost that much a barrel. Something has to give —

Did the same thing here in central NC as Trelaina describes. I’ve senn regular (87 octane) for as much as $2.55 / gal around here, though the average price seems to be about $2.42.
The price would drop $0.42 / gal if the NC state and federal governments would supend the gas tax. Don’t think you’ll hear too many politicians talking about that, though.

$2.42 for unleaded, $2.52 for mid-grade. This is in Texas – oil country – so this kind of price has been unheard of! Plus, there’s now a surcharge on delivery services and moving trucks; and price increases on basics like groceries and consumer goods to cover the extra costs of shipping.

Well, I believe you and I are in the same state. Here in north Alabama it’s running around $2.27 but it could be higher.

docjim, I live in Central NC as well (we ought to compare notes!). What gets me is that they started recently posting on every gas pump what the taxes are….I fully expected the roof to be raised, but nothing.

Jo, regular unleaded was at $2.41 here in Billings,Montana as of this AM. It went up 5 cents from yesterday. I can get 3 cents off per gallon at the Albertson’s pump, so that’s where I always go. Crazy it was just $2.26 last week.

Y’all are lucky. Here in CA at the local no brand gas station the price is $2.85 /gallon for cash for the 87 octane. Its more if you use a credit card.
