Safer with Martha Tagged?

I heard yesterday that Martha Stewart has been ordered to wear her court ordered leash for another 3 weeks.

Before I go any further, let me get something straight here. I can’t stand Martha Stewart. She comes off arrogant and acts like she’s better than anyone else on the planet – just because she can take a mushroom cap and turn it into a 7 course meal.

BUT — Martha was used by the Court system and I believe done completely wrong. If you take the time to read the About Me Section, you will find that I have worked for 2 police departments and one probation department. I was completely floored when Ms. Stewart was given the sentence she was. In the years that I was around the LE community and especially the court system, first offenders normally don’t do any jail time.

Okay — the court says she’s guilty of what she was charged with, I’m not going to argue that. But Neal Cavuto, from Fox News, made a valid point yesterday in his “Common Sense” section:

I feel safer now: Martha Stewart has to keep her ankle bracelet on another few weeks.

That’ll show her!

I guess we’re all better off knowing that bracelet isn’t coming off so soon. But not a word about all those sex offenders out there whose whereabouts none of us knows.

Where are their ankle bracelets? Where’s the fuss over their comings and goings?

No, Martha takes a four-wheeler out of her house and authorities clamp down to make sure she stays “in” her house.

Sex offenders are released on bond and allowed to wander around the country with unfettered access to children, and then kidnap these children, murder and molest – but Martha has to stay hold up in her house for a crime of stealing $10,000.

I can’t get my heard wrapped around that any more than Neal can. Something is seriously wrong with the court system in this country. Seriously wrong.

Well definitely these sex offenders should have to have some kind of tracking device.

I completely agree. I find Martha annoying, but also feel that she’s found a way to make a good living and hey, more power to her.

If she did wrong, so be it…but in the grand scheme of things, there are a lot more people in this world that ought to be wearing ankle bracelets.

Oh I was thinking about this yesterday. About the very thing same you just posted here.

But also while doing searches for something to write about concerning the ACLU I als came across some articles relating to women who go to prison UNFAIRLY on drug charges (typical ACLU crap). And in this ONE article they were actually talked about Martha Stewart and trying to relate it and compare it to these women going to prison unfairly due to drug charges. It was laughable.

I swear I don’t know what is wrong with our society and the MSM and law enforcement and judicial system regarding their priorities on “criminals” like Martha Stewart and the REAL criminals like sex offenders. Just gets my blood boiling.

Martha Stewart was convicted of a crime. She violated her parole. I would have violated her right back to prison. Time for justice to be evenhanded–all people who violate their parole should go back to prison and serve out the rest of their sentence. She went to yoga class or something. She is obviousoy someone who thinks the law doesn’t apply to her.

Chris, I appreciate where you’re coming from, but I’m coming from having worked in the LE/Probation community. Not everyone that violates their probation goes back to prison. Depending on the level of violation, the Judge can send the person back to jail, or simply increase a fine, community service, or like in this case, extend house arrest. The main point of my post was to note that the judicial community seems more hell bent on keeping Martha under wraps and not worrying about the predators out there to harm the younger people of this society.
